Body and wings with scales of different types, wings also with microtrichia, the first partially shed in the resin flow (Fig. 1).

Head: broad (520 µm, without eyes) (Fig. 1 bottom), with long piliform scales, partially shed. Large globular compound eyes, diameter 310 µm. Vertical diameter divided by distance between compound eyes 0.71. Ocelli prominent, slightly oval. Hind part of head dorsally with prominent transversal bulge on both sides (“ warts ”), two smaller ones on either side towards the hind of the head.

Mouthparts: Maxillary palpi five-segmented, first segment prominent, second shorter, third thin and long, 180 ° kink with longest segment four. Segment five short and pointed at tip. Other mouthparts hardly visible. Mandibles probably present, maxillary palps tiny, probably 2 - segmented.

Antennas: Submoniliform antennae, about two thirds the length of fore wings. Scape tube-shaped, 180 µm long, without medial indentation; pedicel rounded and some 50 µm long. No intercalary sclerite detectable between scapus and pedicellus. 33–34 barrel-shaped flagellomeres, narrowing apically, distal flagellomere pointed. Flagellomeres with two tufts of 2–6 long scales on each side (precursors of ascoid sensillae?), two tufts basally, the other two about medially inserted. Distinct ascoids, however, obviously absent.

Wings: Lanceolate wings, outer margin distinctly convex in fore- and hindwing, dorsally covered with scales. Forewings 4 mm in length and 1.16 mm broad at broadest site, hindwings 3.4 mm long. Jugum present, of normal shape (shark fin-like). Wing scales with asymmetrically kinked, tiny serrate apical margin, and about three times longer than broad. Small lanceolate and up to 400 µm long piliform scales (the latter on head and mainly at hind edge of wings) present too. Microtrichia distinct. Underside of wings mostly devoid of scales, except for tiny, drop-like scales near wing base of forewings and larger scales along costa. Patchy, iridescent color pattern in forewings preserved, reminiscent of the purple (- violet) ground colour with golden markings like in extant Micropterix . Homoneurous, complete venation (Fig. 2). Front wing with Sc 1 + Sc 2 with basal fork at half length; R 1 + R 2 with basal fork at 1 / 2 of length and with R stem at 1 / 4 of length; Rs 1 + Rs 2 on common stem; crossvein Rs 2 - Rs 3 present, cell therefore closed; Rs 3 + Rs 4 from one point of posterior edge of cell; Rs 4 apical; M 1 close to Rs 4, but crossvein between them not visible; crossvein between M 1 and M 2, however, pronounced; M 2 + M 3 forked at 1 / 2; crossvein M 3 - CuA present, slightly distal forking M 2 - M 3 and slightly basal forking of CuA 1 - CuA 2; a further, basal crossvein between stem of M 2 + M 3 and CuP at 1 / 6 of wing length, kinked; CuA from kink of this crossvein and with fork at 2 / 3 of length; CuP present; 1 A and 2 A fused not before half length (very indistinct), basal loop therefore not explicitly visible; a short, separate 3 A, reaching basal margin. Hind wing with Sc and R separate; R + Rs forked at app. 1 / 6; Rs 1 + Rs 2 and Rs 3 + Rs 4 with fork at 1 / 2 of length each, forking of Rs-stem at 1 / 2 of wing length; Rs 4 apical; cross vein Rs 2 - Rs 3 absent, accessory cell therefore open; crossveins Rs 4 - M 1 and M 1 - M 2 not visible; M 2 + M 3 with fork slightly distal 1 / 2 of length; crossvein M 3 - CuA absent; CuA 1 + CuA 2 with fork at 3 / 4 of length; CuP and anal veins not visible. No pterostigma or nygmata visible.

Body: tegulae at base of front wing with long hair-like scales. Abdomen 460 µm broad and slender, dorsal side flat, ventral side narrower with segments only some 250 µm broad. Last segment A 7 even narrower basally than previous ones, but getting broader distally. Sternum VIII completely absent, Tergum VIIII strongly reduced; Sternum V glands probably absent (not clearly visible, except for a hole-shaped indentation at the extreme latero-distal end of sternum IV); scales at abdomen present only laterally. Uncus short, broadly rounded; valves broad, prominently sickle-shaped in ventral view with bristles pointing inwards at their tips.

Legs: Protibia with well-developed epiphysis. Midtibia without spurs, hindtibia with 2 pairs of spurs. Tarsi with five tarsomers, proximal tarsomer more than twice the length of the second one, the next tarsomers with slightly decreasing length. Spur formula 0-0 - 4.

Syninclusions: one Nematocera, frass, some fragments with mycelia, Quercus - type trichomes.

Diagnosis.

Apomorphies of Glaesopterix (synapomorphies or parallelisms, see also the following discussion): (1) labial palpi <3 - segmented (present in all other Micropterigidae lineages except Australian genera, partly also in Sabatinca s. str.); (2) apical crossvein Sc-R absent (Australian genera); (3) crossvein R-M very short (partly in northern hemisphere genera and Micropterix); (4) cell open in hindwing (northern hemisphere genera, all other partly); (5) sternum V glands absent (like in Micropterix); (6) male abdominal sternite VIII absent (northern hemisphere genera, Sabatinca s. str., Australian lineage, southern sabatincoid genera, partim).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/D98AF630C4145CCB9ED9C4FDA2F8EE13	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
