In P. quinilineata, the lateral lobes of the juxta have an apexpointed process arising from the base, and the phallus lacks a preapical process and possesses a sclerotized apical thorn; in the female genitalia, the ostium bursae has a wide serrate band arising from the anterolateral corner.

The new species is also similar to P. similiquinilineata sp. nov. In P. similiquinilineata sp. nov., the lateral lobes of the juxta have asymmetrical lateral processes, and the phallus possesses a small triangular plate near the apex. Slight differences lie in the female genitalia of the two species: in P. shengtangshana sp. nov., the lamella postvaginalis is shallowly concave at the middle on the posterior margin, the lamella antevaginalis is subquadrate, and the antrum bears a wider, more heavily sclerotized band laterally; whereas in P. similiquinilineata sp. nov., the lamella postvaginalis is rounded on the posterior margin, the lamella antevaginalis is subrectangular, and the antrum has a narrower, weakly sclerotized band laterally.

Description. It can be distinguished from the latter in the male genitalia by the asymmetrical lateral lobes of the juxta, and the phallus with a sclerotized triangular plate distally; in the female genitalia by the ostium bursae without a band arising from the anterolateral corner, and the antrum being short subquadrate. In P. quinilineata, the lateral lobes of the juxta are symmetrical, and the phallus has an apical thorn; in the female genitalia, the ostium bursae has a wide serrate band arising from the anterolateral corner, and the subrectangular antrum is slightly widened anteriorly.

The new species is closely allied to P. shengtangshana sp. nov. The differences between the two species are stated in the preceding species.

Description. Adult (Fig. 6) with wingspan 7.0–9.0 mm.

Head. Vertex yellow, frons grey, occiput pale yellow mixed with deep brown. Labial palpus with second segment yellow, except black in basal 2/3 and at apex on ventral surface, black in basal 2/3 and at apex on outer surface; third segment black except pale yellow in basal 1/3 and apex. Antenna with scape yellow; flagellum black alternating with yellow dorsally, deep brown ventrally.

Thorax. Mesonotum black, tegula black in basal half, yellow in distal half. Forewing orange yellow; costal margin with three large black patches: basal patch subrectangular, extending obliquely outward to above fold, edged with a white line on outer margin extending to cell; median patch subrectangular, edged with a white line on outer margin sparsely diffused to posterior angle of cell; distal patch subtriangular; fold with a small white spot at base; dorsum with black mixed with orange yellow stripe from base obliquely inward to base of fold, with two white streaks running respectively from basal 1/4 and 3/4, obliquely outward to cell, edged with dense black scales along inner margins of two white streaks, inner streak joining with white line running from outer margin of basal patch; dark brown stripe around tornus; apex with a white dot; termen with black scales, forming a thin black band, with a white dot at middle; fringe orange yellow except greyish black on extension of distal patch and around tornus. Hindwing and fringe grey.

Abdomen. Male genitalia (Fig. 12) with uncus wide at base, slightly narrowed to middle length, distal 1/2 uniformly slender to apex. Gnathos about 3/4 length of uncus, lingulate, distal 1/4 squamous, with a membranous process from before apex of ventral surface. Tegumen furcate from posterior 1/2, laterally narrowed to anterior end. Valva subrectangular, bilobed distally: costal process triangular, setose, pointed at apex; ventral process being a large, upcurved spine; sacculus parallel, extending to before base of ventral lobe of valva. Juxta reaching base of uncus; lateral lobe very strong, narrowed toward apex, slightly asymmetrical: left lobe with a process arising from distal 1/4, right lobe with a process arising from basal 1/4; basal lobe reaching above middle of saccus. Saccus about same length as uncus, subparallel to before rounded apex. Phallus about 3 times length of saccus, broadened from middle to apex, with a small triangular plate near apex; cornutus slender, about 1/4 length of phallus.

Female genitalia (Fig. 16) with apophyses anteriores 1/2 length of apophyses posteriores. Lamella postvaginalis being a short plate, rounded on posterior margin. Lamella antevaginalis subrectangular, slightly longer than wide. Antrum rectangular, with heavily sclerotized band laterally. Ductus bursae approximately 1.5 times length of corpus bursae, with a subrectangular plate below antrum, which bears large spines on its posterior margin, a large spine in its middle, a circle of small spines from its anterior margin extending backward to posterior 3/5 of antrum and then coming downward to posterior margin of subrectangular plate. Corpus bursae ovate, membranous; signum absent.

Distribution. China (Guizhou, Hunan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin simil- and the name of another species quinilineata, referring to the similarities between the two species.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/E349906EFF9AFD0859BAD86431EFF948	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
