DE6FC22BFFEDFFFB66833A97FEE4F927.taxon	description	Description: Males (Figure 1 a – c, g – h) with a wingspan of 28 – 29 mm. Ground color pale ochreous brown. Thorax with a distinct black spot and laterally having long hairs. Forewings with a distinct costal scent patch at the base; a prominent black spot below the lower angle of the cell. A series of 10 submarginal spots is present, with three located apically; the two near the tornus are closely conjoint, though they may remain well separated in some specimens or appear nearly fused in others. Hindwings reduced. Abdomen slender and hairy, with the trailing edge bearing distinctive lateral hair tufts. Females (Figure 1 d – f) slightly larger, with a wingspan of 30 – 32 mm. Wing markings like those of males, though the spots are shorter. Hindwings fully developed. Abdomen shorter and lacking lateral hair tufts. Male and female genitalia as discussed above in the generic description (Figure 2).	en	Rayhan, Md Jahir, Jahan, Sayema, Twaha, Sidratul Muntaaha, Fahim, Md (2026): Review of the highly obscure monotypic genus Ranghana Moore, 1878 with the first description of male from the Sundarbans, Bangladesh (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae). DE6FC22BFFEDFFFB66833A97FEE4F927.taxon	biology_ecology	Ecology: The ecology of this species remains largely unknown. The precise type locality in Kolkata is uncertain; however, its consistent association with mangrove habitats (Figure 3) and lack of records from other ecosystems suggest that the species is likely mangrove-dependent. Observations made during February, July, November, and December in this study, along with an additional record from April on iNaturalist (Observation 182739536), indicate that the species likely occurs throughout the year. The apparent rarity of males may be related to their reduced hindwings, which could limit long-distance flight. Furthermore, the presence of well-developed secondary sexual characters in males suggests a potentially complex reproductive strategy, possibly adapted to the structurally intricate mangrove environment.	en	Rayhan, Md Jahir, Jahan, Sayema, Twaha, Sidratul Muntaaha, Fahim, Md (2026): Review of the highly obscure monotypic genus Ranghana Moore, 1878 with the first description of male from the Sundarbans, Bangladesh (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae).
