The holotype was originally stated to be deposited at the Departamento de Zoologia da Secretaria de Agricultura de São Paulo. The collections of this institution were fully transferred to the Universidade de São Paulo in 1969, at which time the institution was renamed the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP) (Artigas & d’Andretta Jr. 1951: 61, see also Percequillo et al. 2022 for brief collections history).	en	Letana, Socrates D., Pape, Thomas, Lamas, Carlos José Einicker (2025): South American bot fly types (Diptera: Oestridae) in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. D449878CC5268E0A4AADF9FCEB92FE03.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Described from a type series of two female specimens (holotype and paratype); material in MZUSP comprised of a male specimen labeled as holotype but not part of the original type material, which was given as “ Holotype ♀ from [Peru:] Iquitos … One ♀ paratype, from Mishuyacu ” (Austen 1933: 707). This specimen is a male adult missing right hindtarsus, and with a foreign bot fly leg appearing to be stuck with left midfemur and unattached to the thorax. The Cuterebra praegrandis Austen holotype [BMNH (E) 249608] is a female specimen deposited at the Natural History Museum (London), while the female paratype [USNMENT 01492826] is housed at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington D. C.). The present specimen was illustrated by Guimarães (1984) and used for describing the male of this species, however the specimen has no data on locality and collector, and do not belong to the type series. Although the holotype label is incorrectly pinned to this specimen, it may have been used to indicate that this specimen was compared with those of the type series or that it was collected in the type locality. The red label was reattached after being turned upside down, and the words ‘ NOT HOLOTYPE’ was handwritten on the side facing up.	en	Letana, Socrates D., Pape, Thomas, Lamas, Carlos José Einicker (2025): South American bot fly types (Diptera: Oestridae) in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. D449878CC5258E084AADFA9BEC46F846.taxon	discussion	Remarks: Described from a type series of one male (holotype) and one female (paratype, as “ alotipo ”); material found in MZUSP comprised of a male adult specimen missing entire right antenna, right legs distal to the coxae, left wing (except lower calypter), and with damaged abdomen. The type series of G. bonaerensis was originally stated to be housed in and belonging to the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales (Del Ponte 1939). The label epithet ‘ bonaerense’ is an incorrect neuter inflection. Type specimen number ‘ 520 ’ as indicated by Del Ponte (1939: 529) used for both holotype and allotype. Guimarães & Papavero (1999: 209) stated to have examined the specimen with the following data: “ Córdoba, no other data, Holotype of Guerinioestrus bonaerensis, Arguello, X. 1957 (F. H. Walz), INM; ” Synonymized with Rogenhofera grandis (Guérin-Méneville, 1844) by Guimarães (1990).	en	Letana, Socrates D., Pape, Thomas, Lamas, Carlos José Einicker (2025): South American bot fly types (Diptera: Oestridae) in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. Remarks: Described from a single male specimen (holotype); material found in MZUSP comprised of a male adult specimen missing right antenna, right wing, right foreleg, right midleg, right hindtarsus, left midleg, left hindtarsomeres, and terminalia. Originally stated to be housed in and belonging to the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales (Del Ponte 1939). Although the data code number does not match with the code from the original description, Del Ponte (1939) used the term “ tipo ” for holotype, and we have no reason to doubt that this specimen is the original holotype. The missing terminalia (including abdominal segment 5) appear to suggest it has been dissected. However, there are no genitalia vials nor glued parts on any card pinned together with the specimen. Even the top blank label card does not have any remnants of adhesive under ultraviolet light. More so, Del Ponte (1939) did not include any description nor any figures of the terminalia.
