Benglebra alami Mahmood & Ahmed, 1969, by original designation.

Diagnosis. External characters generally as in the generic descriptions of Viraktamath & Webb (2019), Luo et al. (2019) and Zhao et al. (2023). Species of the subgenus Myittana (Benglebra) can be distinguished from other subgenera of Myittana by the following combination of characters: crown usually produced anteriorly and often with longitudinal red or orange stripes; pronotum approximately as wide as head including eyes; forewing with veins R4+5 and M1+2 confluent near apex; male pygofer usually with one or a pair of ventral processes arising from ventral margin; style elongate, apex bifid or finger-like; connective V-shaped; and aedeagus tubular or laterally compressed, gradually tapered apically, without apical processes, with gonopore apical on caudal surface. Remarks. In previously described species of Myittana (Benglebra), the style apex was generally considered bifid (Viraktamath & Webb 2019). However, Zhao et al. (2023) reported a finger-like style apex in M. (B.) weiningensis . The present new species, M. (B.) hamulata, shares this condition. Therefore, the diagnosis of the subgenus is slightly broadened herein to include species with either bifid or simple finger-like style apices.

Distribution. The specific epithet is an adjective derived from the Latin word “ hama ” (hook), referring to apex of aedeagus with a small hook in lateral view.

Remarks. This species is similar to M. (B.) biflaka Luo, Yang & Chen, 2019, but differs as follows: (1) crown with distinct pale yellowish-brown longitudinal stripes, claval area brown (crown with indistinct longitudinal stripes, claval area yellowish-white in M. (B.) biflaka); (2) pygofer ventral process spine-like process (pygofer ventral process lamellar in M. (B.) biflaka); and (3) apex of aedeagus abruptly constricted and narrowed in lateral view (apex of aedeagus gradually narrowed in M. (B.) biflaka). The style apex is finger-like, rather than bifid, but this condition is consistent with the expanded concept of Myittana (Benglebra) proposed by Zhao et al. (2023), who recorded a finger-like style apex in M. (B.) weiningensis and treated the subgenus as having the style apex bifid or finger-like. The present species also matches the subgeneric combination of a produced crown, ventral pygofer process, V-shaped connective, and gradually tapered aedeagus; therefore, it is placed in M. ( Benglebra).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/D52FC20AFF91A60DFF24FC6B8757FAC7	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009.
