Pimpajee Kaewwong

Etymology. Named for Ban Nam Rad Spring, Surat Thani Province

Description. Length of each male forewing 4 mm; specimens in alcohol with head, thorax, abdomen, and legs black. Forewings black and white.

Male genitalia (Figs. 1C–1D). Segment IX somewhat triangular in lateral view (Fig. 1B); in ventral view (Fig. 1C), sternum rectangular with concave apically. Segment X in dorsal view (Fig. 1A) divided at the base into two processes, each straight, lancet-like, acute apically; in lateral view (Fig. 1B) lancet-like, very long, curved ventrad, acute apically. Preanal appendages needle-like, as long as segment X in dorsal and lateral view (Fig. 1A–1B). Inferior appendages in lateral view bipartite with claw-like, long, strongly ventradly curved basodorsal process with an acute tip and a basoventral tooth, main body of inferior appendages straight, long with with dentate medial process and dark acute apical tooth projecting dorsad (Fig. 1B); main body of inferior appendages in ventral view (Fig. 1C) long, ovoid, tapering in steps towards the tip with dark acute apical tooth, basodorsal processes long, slender, with acute tips bent 90° laterad. Phallus long, slender, apically acute in lateral view (Fig. 1D).

Diagnosis. Males of the new species are similar in their terminalia to L. glaukos Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2002 (redraw from Malicky 2010) known from Sai Yok Waterfall, Kanchanaburi Province. The new species can be readily distinguished from its congener based on the inferior appendages: the basodorsal processes of the inferior appendages are digitate, straight, as long as the main body of the inferior appendage and have a blunt tip in L. glaukos (Fig. 1E). The basodorsal processes of the inferior appendages of the new species are strongly curved ventrad with a pointed apex.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/B447878BFFE94E5403DC3D17FE4BF867	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
