This species is morphologically very similar to B. altera Seksjaeva, 1989, but it can be distinguished in the female genitalia by the smaller ostium bursae, the presence of a pair of processes with three hardened bundles of spines on the anterior apophyses region, and the signa covering up to two-thirds of the corpus bursae.

Description. Adult (Figure 2A). Female.

Head: Creamy white; frons smooth and shining, vertex and crown slightly raised with creamy to pale ochreous piliform scales. Antennae filiform, approximately 0.75–0.80× forewing length, white with alternating pale brown annulations; scape with a distinct white eye-cap tinged with light orange. Labial palpi slender, porrect, extending slightly beyond frons, clothed with whitish scales.

Legs: Creamy white; fore- and mid-tibia slightly shaded with pale ochreous. Hind tibia with long piliform scales forming a loose brush; tarsal segments faintly ringed with pale brown.

Thorax: Creamy white to pale ochreous, occasionally with faint brownish speckles dorsally. Tegula concolorous with thorax, narrowly fringed with whitish scales.

Forewing: Wingspan 6.0– 6.5 mm. Forewing narrow, lanceolate; costa gently arched. Ground color white to creamy white, covered with scattered brownish speckles. Two faint but distinct pale brown costal spots present— one near the basal one-third, another at the midsection of the costa. Apical area sometimes dusted with pale brown scales. Cilia long, silky white.

Hindwing: Pale creamy white, slightly translucent, narrower than forewing; costa straight, termen oblique. Cilia long, silky white, approximately equal to wing width.

Abdomen: Slender, creamy white to pale beige; dorsal surface covered with fine whitish scales.

Male. Unknown.

Female genitalia (Figure 3A). Papillae anales sclerotized, broadly oval, densely covered with short fine setae. Apophyses anteriores weak or nearly absent, while apophyses posteriores slender, elongate, and extending slightly beyond the papillae anales. Ostium bursae small and rounded, located at the anterior margin of sternite VIII. Antrum weakly funnel-shaped, moderately sclerotized. Ductus bursae membranous, slender, weakly sclerotized along the posterior portion, gradually widening near the middle, then narrowing toward the corpus bursae. Corpus bursae large, elongate-oval, membranous, densely covered with fine microspinules; signum elongate and plate-like, occupying nearly two-thirds of the corpus bursae, composed of vertically aligned comb-like ridges and a faint central band. A pair of processes with three small clusters of spines are present at the anterior apophysis region, a diagnostic feature that separates this species from B. altera and allied taxa. Ductus seminalis originates near the junction between the posterior ductus bursae and the anterior corpus bursae.

DNA barcodes. This new species, Bucculatrix bipuncticosta sp. nov. has a genetic distance of 12.4% from B. pyrivorella, showing a distinct genetic divergence from neighboring species from Korea.

Distribution. Korea (endemic).

Host plant. Unknown.

Etymology. The species name “ bipuncticosta ” is derived from the Latin words bi- (meaning “two”) and punctum (“spot”) combined with costa (“forewing margin”), referring to the two distinct brownish spots along the costal margin of the forewing, which are diagnostic for this species.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/B65D216F5B58B319FF211693E6AACBFD	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
