B20687CD1639C56C13EAD054FF3A9D73.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Ectopsocus bispinosus sp. nov., differs from all other known species of the genus by the presence of a robust spine each on the distal end of first and second flagellar segments in the male (Fig. 5). The wing pattern and subgenital plate morphology of Ectopsocus bispinosus sp. nov. closely resembles Ectopsocus denotatus Thornton and Wong, 1968 described based on a female from Vietnam. However, E. bispinosus sp. nov. can be readily distinguished by the truncate apical lobe of the subgenital plate, which bears a longitudinal row of dark nodules on each of the two apical lobes (Fig. 17). The main plate has a row of 10 long subapical setae. The ventral valve of the gonapophyses is medially broad with an apically pointed tip; the dorsal valve is slender, and the external valve bears numerous stout setae on its apical half. In contrast, E. denotatus has a subgenital main plate with 12 long subapical setae and lacks dark nodules on the apical lobe, the dorsal valve of the gonapophyses is broad and triangular (Thornton & Wong 1968).	en	Ramesh, Gurusamy, Babu, Rajappa, Subramanian, Kumarapuram A. B20687CD1639C56C13EAD054FF3A9D73.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Badonnel and Pearman (1971) defined the monogeneric species Mascaropsocus spinosus as distinct from the other genera of the family Ectopsocidae (previously Ectopsocinae) by having several spines in the first flagellomere of antennae of male. Besides, the species is characterized by, setae on hindwing margin, an elongated phallosome with complex radula sclerites, subgenital plate with a median protuberance between two apical lobes (each bearing three setae), absence of ventral valve and beak shaped dorsal valve. In contrast, Ectopsocus bispinosus sp. nov. does not share these diagnostic features and most of its morphological characters align more closely with those of the genus Ectopsocus except for the presence of a single robust spine on the distal end of the first and second flagellomeres of both antennas (Fig. 5). Hence, the discovery of E. bispinosus sp. nov. in India falls within the natural distribution range of Ectopsocus, and the unique antennal characters exhibited by this new species are here assumed to be an autapomorphy within the genus. Nevertheless, the current placement of this taxon in Ectopsocus requires a detailed molecular study of different genera to test its phylogenetic position and the relationships among genera, including this newly discovered taxon.	en	Ramesh, Gurusamy, Babu, Rajappa, Subramanian, Kumarapuram A. B20687CD1632C56113EAD6C8FDBD9B32.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The presently described species Ectopsocus sengaltheri sp. nov., belonging to the E. basalis species group (Thornton & Wong 1968). The forewings of E. sengaltheri sp. nov., have complex pattern of distinct dark patches on a hyaline background which is similar to E. ridderi Vaughan, Thornton & New, 1989. However, it can be easily differentiated from E. ridderi by the following characters; the external paramere is slender and curved outward, distally pointed, and anteriorly connected by a wide membranous bridge; the aedeagal arch is slender, Vshaped and medially fused with a knob-like structure; two elongated endophallic sclerites; clunium is square-shaped with a set of tubercles extending from the median to posteriorly. However, in E. ridderi the aedeagal arch is tapered and keel-like, proximal end of external parameres straight and distally tapered, strongly spined endophallic sclerites and absence of tubercle in clunium (Vaughan et al. 1989). Thornton and Wong (1968), delimited the following species, E. basalis (Banks, 1937); E. baliosus Badonnel, 1968; E. nidicolus Thornton and Wong, 1968; E. speciosus Thornton and Wong, 1968 and E. stictus Thornton and Wong, 1968 under the basalis group based on the character vein R 3 + 4 recurved in the hindwing. The presently described new species also share the same character. Apart from the above, the following species also have vein R 3 + 4 recurved in hindwing: E. pictus Mockford, 1974; E. ridderi; E. hartleyi Smithers, 1996 and E. annandelei Datta, 1969. Forewings of E. sengaltheri sp. nov. are similar to the complex wing patterns of above species but can be differed by hyaline spots and genitalic characters. In E. baliosus, E. basalis, and E. nidicolus, the aedeagal arch is united to the broad plate, while in E. sengaltheri sp. nov. it is merged with a hammer-like structure. E. speciosus has five endophallic sclerites, while in E. sengaltheri sp. nov. only with two endophallic sclerites and quite absent in E. stictus and E. basalis. Tubercle absent in IX tergite of E. speciosus, but present in the middle of IX tergite of currently described new species. The forewing pattern of the described new species is also similar to E. machadoi Badonnel, 1955 and E. strauchi Enderlein, 1906, but it can be easily distinguished by a fused aedeagal arch with a hammer-like structure. While in E. machadoi and E. strauchi aedeagal arch is fused to a broad plate. In E. annandelei, the apical lobe of subgenital plate with minute spines between apical setae but absent in E. sengaltheri sp. nov.	en	Ramesh, Gurusamy, Babu, Rajappa, Subramanian, Kumarapuram A. B20687CD1631C56713EAD538FC2C9943.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Ectopsocus cluniatoides sp. nov. is very similar to Ectopsocus cluniatus Vaughan, Thornton & New, 1989, which was described from the Krakatau Islands (Vaughan et al. 1989), and Ectopsocus kepongensis New & Lee, 1992, described from West Malaysia (New & Lee 1992). However, it can be readily distinguished based on specific morphological characteristics, particularly in the phallosome and clunium. E. cluniatoides sp. nov. by having a more prominently sclerotized mid-clunial area and a distinct median concavity on the posterior border of the aedeagal arch. The endophallic sclerite complex consists of six sclerites. However, in E. cluniatus, mid-clunial sclerotized area is less pronounced, lacks a concavity on the posterior border of the aedeagal arch and bears slender, curved endophallic sclerites (Vaughan et al. 1989). The presence of a median concavity on the posterior border of the aedeagal arch is shared between E. cluniatoides sp. nov., and E. kepongensis. However, E. kepongensis differs from E. cluniatoides in having elongated radular sclerites that are distinctly developed posteriorly and poorly defined anteriorly (New & Lee 1992). The new species has welldefined, complex endophallic sclerites as described below.	en	Ramesh, Gurusamy, Babu, Rajappa, Subramanian, Kumarapuram A. B20687CD1637C56713EAD4D0FBA29E0B.taxon	description	(Figs 39 – 46) New (1971) described Ectopsocus himalayanus based on a single male specimen from the Nepal. Since then, there was no report of this species. In 2018, we collected male and female specimens from same colony at KMTR, Tamil Nadu. Male specimens were studied and identified as E. himalayanus (Figs 45 – 46) based on original description (New 1971). Since the female was also collected together, and morphologically similar to the male, it was also identified as E. himlayanus and described here. Description. Female. Color. Head brown, clypeus pale with unclear traces of markings. Eyes black. Antennae and maxillary palp pale. Thorax slightly darker on the dorsal side. Femora pale, tibiae and tarsi dark brown. Abdomen pale brown, with faint banding across the anterior tergite. Forewing slightly brown and unmarked. Morphology. Body length 1.235 mm. Head (Fig. 39) covered with setae, fourth segment of maxillary palpus rounded. Forewing margin setose, Rs-M meeting at a point, vein setose except Cu 2 (Fig. 40). B20687CD162AC57813EAD364FA999AEB.taxon	description	(Figs 51 – 52) The species Ectopsocopsis mozambica can be distinguished from all other members of the genus Ectopsocopsis by the very complex female subgenital plate, which consists of three superimposed parts (Fig. 51), and by the male clunium, which is anteriorly broad and narrows posteriorly, with an apical comb bearing strong teeth (Fig. 52). This species was first described from Mozambique, Africa by Badonnel (1931) based on females and was placed in the genus Ectopsocus. Subsequently, the male was discovered from Belgian Congo (now Democratic Republic of the Congo) by Ball (1943). Badonnel (1955) placed Ectopsocus mozambica under the genus Ectopsocopsis. Recently, Lienhard (2016) documented this species from South Africa. The specimens studied from India exactly matches with all diagnostic characters, particularly that of wing venation, male and female genital structures mentioned in the original description of E. mozambica (Badonnel 1931: Fig. 17; Ball 1943: Fig. 10). Based on this study, we report the range extension of this species to Asia. It is interesting to note that the distribution of this species shows a discontinuous distribution between Afrotropical regions and the Western Ghats, India. This apparent discontinuity may be due to inadequate surveys of intervening geographic regions. Before commencement of our study from 2016 in India, no systematic survey for psocids were carried out. Based on our extensive collection data (see below), E. mozambica is widely distributed in the Western Ghats and adjoining plains. We propose that the species may be widely distributed in the Afro tropics and Indian subcontinent.	en	Ramesh, Gurusamy, Babu, Rajappa, Subramanian, Kumarapuram A.
