Date of collection and specific location not recorded on the label.

The holotype, which will be deposited in the Natural History Museum Vienna, is provided with a red printed label.

Additional material examined:

BRASIL • “BRASIL • ♀; Schott. Natural History Museum Vienna; ♀;NA; Schott. Natural History Museum Vienna” Date of collection and specific location not recorded on the label .

Diagnosis:

Eucyphonia nuggetta sp. nov. can be readily distinguished from all other known species of the genus by its ochre body coloration with brown shading, combined with the following diagnostic features: unique coarsely tuberculate pronotal that markedly differs from that of other Eucyphonia species, bifurcated suprahumeral process (shp) bearing elongated, stout lateral spine and shorter vertical spine with bluntly pointed apex; short, robust medial process (mp); posterior process (pp) with a swollen base and divergent, pyriform lateral branches (lb); and pubescent abdomen.

Description:

Measurements (mm):

Female. Body length: 6.8; pronotum length: 6.0; pronotum height: 2.5; head width (across eyes): 2.0; head height: 1.2; distance between suprahumeral processes apices: 3.5; distance between medial processes apices: 0.8; distance between posterior processes lateral spines (first half): 2.0; distance between posterior processes lateral spines apices: 2.8.

Male unknown.

Color:

Body predominantly ochre with brown shading. Head ochre, with brown markings surrounding the ocelli and two vertical lines on the frontoclypeus. In frontal view, the metopidium is ochre with a brown depression extending from the inferior margin of the pronotum towards the lateroposterior margins (Fig.1A). Suprahumeral processes (shp) ochre, with dark brown coloration at the external tips. In lateral view, a brown band extends posterior to the shp, connecting to an additional band located behind the medial process (mp). The posterior process (pp) exhibits dark brown rings at the base and apex of the lateral branches (lb), and three brown rings along the medial branch (mb), with one ring located at each third of the spine (Fig.1B). Forewings (tegmina) hyaline to yellowish, with dark brown medial veins. Hindwings entirely hyaline. Legs ochre, with dark brown coxae. Abdomen uniformly ochre.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/A50887D3FFE3DF4BFF1A2E16FA7C38C8	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009.
