A65CF117FFDCFFC1FF2CF8EFFAC7F842.taxon	etymology	Etymology. Named in honor of the coleopterist Dr. Cristiano Lopes Andrade. He introduced us to the Ciidae family and guided our research on the ecology and taxonomy of these tiny beetles as an ideal advisor. We are grateful for his help in achieving both our Master’s and Doctoral degrees. His teaching is truly exemplary.	en	Rosa-Oliveira, Ayessa, Borlini, Paula Vieira, Souza-Gonçalves, Igor (2026): The first species of the Cis vitulus species-group (Coleoptera: Ciidae) from Brazil. A65CF117FFDCFFC1FF2CF8EFFAC7F842.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Dorsal punctation coarse and single on both pronotum and elytra. Elytra dark brown, with paleyellowish band before the apical-fourth, occupying ¼ of its length. Male anterocephalic edge slightly projected forward and upward, sinuous and deeply emarginate medially; and anterior pronotal edge produced forward, widely emarginate apically, forming two short subtriangular horns. Cis cris sp. nov. is most similar to Cis fasciatus, particularly in general body form and male ornaments, but the latter differs in slightly finer dorsal punctation, the pale elytral band occupying more than half of the apical elytral length, and male ornaments more projected.	en	Rosa-Oliveira, Ayessa, Borlini, Paula Vieira, Souza-Gonçalves, Igor (2026): The first species of the Cis vitulus species-group (Coleoptera: Ciidae) from Brazil. A65CF117FFDCFFC1FF2CF8EFFAC7F842.taxon	discussion	Comments. Among the species included in the vitulus group, only Cis cris sp. nov., C. fasciatus, and C. grossus have the pale band in the elytra. In C. bisbidens, the male anterior pronotal edge has two long acute horns and a small sex patch on the first abdominal ventrite, which is unique among the vitulus group. Cis bubalus is morphologically related to C. congestus and C. vitulus, all of them with small horns in the anterior pronotal edge and lacking pale bands or patches on the body. In Cis granarius, the sides of the pronotum are lighter than the disc, and the body is comparatively more robust than in other species of the vitulus group. We have no information about the host fungus used by the new species. However, Lawrence (1971) presents records of host fungi to Nearctic species in the vitulus group: Cis congestus occurs in Trametes hirsuta (Wulfen) Lloyd and Trametes villosa (Sw.) Kreisel; and Cis vitulus occurs in Trametes versicolor (L.) Lloyd, Lenzites betulinus (L.) Fr., Bjerkandera adusta (Willd.) P. Karst. and Schizophyllum commune Fr. All these fungi species, except B. adusta, are members of the Trametes ciid host-use group, while Bjerkandera is part of the Ganoderma ciid host-use group (Orledge & Reynolds 2005).	en	Rosa-Oliveira, Ayessa, Borlini, Paula Vieira, Souza-Gonçalves, Igor (2026): The first species of the Cis vitulus species-group (Coleoptera: Ciidae) from Brazil.
