The new species is similar to A. pectiniferus (Michaelsen, 1931), which is distributed in southeastern China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi) (Xu and Xiao 2011). Both species share the epilobous prostomium, the first dorsal pore opening in 12 / 13, three pairs of spermathecal pores in 6 / 7–8 / 9, three pairs of papillae on VII – VIII (Chen 1959), and caeca complex with 5–6 pectinate branches. However, the new species is shorter in body length, primarily brown in color; with 2–3 papillae located laterally to the male pores, arranged in an “ 8 ” - shaped or triangular pattern, each positioned at the corners of the triangle; the spermathecal pores are lip-shaped slits. In contrast, A. pectiniferus is larger, with a deep purple or purplish-red dorsum and lateral sides; it bears 3–4 papillae laterally to the male pores arranged in a rectangular pattern, each at the corners of the rectangle; the spermathecal pores are rather large, cross-shaped slits (Xu and Xiao 2011). Internally, the accessory glands of the new species appear as wart-like protrusions without cord-like short ducts; the diverticula are similar in length to the spermathecae. In A. pectiniferus, the accessory glands possess cord-like short ducts, and the diverticula are longer than the spermathecae (Xu and Xiao 2011).

Furthermore, the new species is further distinguished from A. szechuanensis (Chen, 1931), A. leshanensis Sun, 2016, and A. daulis (Zhong & Ma, 1979) . It is similar in body size to A. szechuanensis but larger than A. leshanensis and A. daulis . The first dorsal pore is located at 12 / 13 (vs. 11 / 12 in A. szechuanensis and A. leshanensis; 4 / 5 or 11 / 12–12 / 13 in A. daulis).

The new species possesses three pairs of pre-clitellar papillae in the spermathecal pore region, which are absent in the other three species. Post-clitellar papillae are present in all except A. leshanensis: 2–3 very small, round papillae lateral to the male pores in the new species; five small round papillae or a large horseshoe-shaped papilla irregularly arranged around the male pores in A. szechuanensis; and a pair posterior to the setae on XVII in A. daulis .

All four species have manicate intestinal caeca, but differ in structure: 5–6 long lobes, the longest ventral in the new species; 12–15 dorsally split, finger-like small sacs in A. szechuanensis; three finger-like sacs in A. leshanensis; and 4–7 dorsally arranged finger-like small sacs in A. daulis . Additionally, the diverticula are approximately as long as the spermathecal sacs in the new species, but shorter in the other three species (Table 3) (Chen 1959; Zhong and Ma 1979; Sun et al. 2016).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/A5ED2382284056EE8327B5AA31E10636	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. It differs externally in its yellowish dorsal coloration (vs. dark purple or purplish red in A. pectiniferus) and in having the first dorsal pore at 13 / 14 (vs. 12 / 13). Both taxa possess three pairs of spermathecae in VII – IX with club-shaped, smooth diverticula exceeding the ampulla in length. However, the ampulla duct is approximately half the ampulla length in the new subspecies (ratio ~ 1: 2), whereas it is subequal to the ampulla in A. pectiniferus (ratio ~ 1: 1). Furthermore, the stalk is medially folded and V-shaped in the new subspecies, but naturally curved without folding in A. pectiniferus . The intestinal caeca of both taxa are complex, each with five branches originating in XXVII and extending anteriorly to XXIV. In A. p. guanzhongensis ssp. nov., the caeca are pinnate with complex folds: the 1 st, 3 rd and 4 th branches bear undulate margins, while the 2 nd and 5 th are extremely short. In contrast, the caeca of A. pectiniferus are digitate with smooth surfaces and even margins, with only the second branch shortened (Table 3).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/A00E86B6D70A521080F592AABCD1C02B	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
