Consequently, the species Syntomopus incisus and S. crassicornis are synonymised under S. thoracicus .

In Graham and Hedqvist’s identification keys (Graham 1969; Hedqvist 1973), S. thoracicus is incorrectly characterised as having a propodeum with a full median carina. However, the lectotype of S. thoracicus has a propodeum with incomplete median carina (Fig. 35). Consequently, S. thoracicus was mistakenly considered similar to S. incurvus; however, the two species can be clearly distinguished by the following characteristics: head and mesosoma dark blue or black (Figs 26, 35), pedicel 1.17–1.35 times as long as F 1 (Fig. 28), and propodeum with an incomplete median carina (Figs 31, 35) in S. thoracicus, vs dark blue-green or green-blue with a metallic copper lustre (Figs 39, 44), pedicel 1.0–1.05 times as long as F 1 (Fig. 41), and propodeum with a complete median carina (Figs 39, 44) in S. incurvus .

In addition, S. thoracicus is very similar to S. turanicus Dzhanokmen, the differences between these species are given in the key.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/E704D55E4287560793550AEA83ADF341	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
