Nel leg., one specimen, a nearly complete female with apex of one wing missing and gas bubbles on wing bases, in same piece of amber with a Ceratopogonidae, a Chironomidae, and a fragment of apical part of a rather large wing of an Odonata: Zygoptera), stored in Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (MNHN), Paris, France. Images and specimen accessible under request to curator of collection. Horizon and locality. Lowermost Eocene (Ypresian), Le Quesnoy outcrop near Creil (Houdancourt village), in Oise Department, Hauts-de-France, France.	en	Nel, Andre, Hebert, Florence, Muller, Valerie Ngo (2026): The first black fly (Diptera: Simuliidae) from the Lowermost Eocene Oise amber (France). 93650F65FFCD512FFF3E32182EA3FEC8.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Female characters only, unique combination of characters not found in described taxa of Hellichiella. 10 antennomeres; palpomere IV distinctly shorter than palpomeres II and III together; pedisulcus visible but shallow; calcipala rather large and apically pointed; vein Rs ending in C very far basal to terminus of C; basal radial cell short.	en	Nel, Andre, Hebert, Florence, Muller, Valerie Ngo (2026): The first black fly (Diptera: Simuliidae) from the Lowermost Eocene Oise amber (France). 93650F65FFCD512FFF3E32182EA3FEC8.taxon	description	Description. Body 1.9 mm long; head 0.3 mm long, 0.8 mm wide; eyes 0.36 mm wide, without line of discontinuity between large upper facets and small lower facets; eyes not in contact at centerline above antenna, 0.08 mm apart; 10 antennomeres; pedicel larger than first flagellomere; both maxillary palps visible; palpomere IV distinctly shorter than palpomeres II and III together; palpomere V elongate; sensory vesicle occupying about slightly less than one fourth of palpomere III; thorax 0.9 mm long, 0.6 mm wide; scutum unpatterned; precoxal bridge complete; wing hyaline, 1.8 mm long, 0.92 mm wide; C with hair-like macrotrichia interspaced with thicker spiniform macrotrichia; Sc with short setae; short basal radial cell, representing 28 % of distance from base of Rs to wing apex, basal section of R with spiniform setae dorsally; R 1 ending on C distal middle of wing; Rs nearly appressed to R 1, not distally forked, ending in C very far basal to terminus of C, and with short setae dorsally and ventrally; CuA distinctly sinuate; absence vs presence of basal medial cell cannot be determined because of presence of gas bubbles at bases of both wings; both hind legs visible; hind basitarsus with a distinct calcipala and second tarsomere with shallow pedisulcus; all claws each with a broad basal thumblike lobe; abdomen 0.92 mm long, 0.7 mm wide; structures of female genitalia hardly determinable, but apparently genital fork with lateral plates broadly joined to corresponding tergite.	en	Nel, Andre, Hebert, Florence, Muller, Valerie Ngo (2026): The first black fly (Diptera: Simuliidae) from the Lowermost Eocene Oise amber (France).
