8C5D878AFFAF7E4714AA7881FA3FF9A6.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Pupal case usually dark brown or black in color, often surrounded by a short waxy fringe. Margin toothed, or serrated, not deflexed. Submarginal area not separated from dorsal disk. Submargin often with a row of small knobbed setae. Thoracic and caudal tracheal pores not differentiated from margin or indicated by modified teeth. Dorsum with glandular spines. Longitudinal and transverse moulting sutures nearly reaching the margin. Cephalic, eighth abdominal and caudal setae present. First abdominal segment with a pair of glandular spines (usually treated as setae); in some species, this pair of spines with shrunk apices. Vasiform orifice often elevated, subcircular or subcordate; operculum similar in shape and almost filling the orifice, obscuring the lingula. Caudal ridges and furrow absent.	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records. 8C5D878AFFAC7E5514AA7DB6FCE5F8C8.taxon	discussion	Comments. This species, described from Thailand, is newly reported here from China. Dubey & Ko (2012) stated this species shows extreme dimorphism. The original description of puparia differs from the illustration (for instance “ abdomen with about 19 submarginal spines ... ”). The puparium has been redrawn (Fig. 11). The number of submarginal spines on the abdomen varies to 21 pairs, and also in asymmetry between the left vs. right sides in some puparia. Additionally, the arrangement of tubercles in rows are not consistent among puparia. This species closely resembles Aleurocanthus siamensis Takahashi, 1942 in having interrupted rows of submarginal spines at intervals of 3 spines, but differs in possessing small rounded tubercles in rows on the abdomen, and in the number of submarginal spines on abdomen (15 pairs in A. siamensis).	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records. 8C5D878AFFA67E5C14AA7DD1FCE8FC0C.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Puparia of this species resemble Aleurocanthus lumpurensis Corbett, 1935 in having a series of glandular spines placed in a row on subdorsal area, but differ in the placement of grouped spines (three, three, and two, respectively) on the outer submedian area of abdominal segments II, III and V (Figs 40 – 41). Despite the fact that the cephalothorax is damaged in all type specimens, the unique arrangement of setae on the abdomen differentiates this species from known Aleurocanthus species.	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records. 8C5D878AFFA37E5B14AA7B9DFC15FBF0.taxon	description	(Figs 46 – 56) Puparium. Dark black, oval, found in groups on the under surface of the leaves, 22 – 25 puparia per leaf; 1.09 – 1.23 mm long, 0.84 – 0.92 mm wide. Margin with white flocculent wax secretion, median area without wax deposition. Margin. Toothed, 4 – 5 teeth in 0.1 mm, each tooth longer than wide, with a wax secreting gland at base. Dorsum. Longitudinal and transverse moulting sutures reaching the margin. Elliptical eye spots just discernable in subdorsum. Abdominal segments suture evident. Dorsum with 20 pairs of spines, 9 pairs on cephalothorax (5 pairs on submargin and 4 pairs on submedian area) and 11 pairs on abdomen (5 pairs on submedian area and 6 pairs on submargin); 4 of the submedian spines are placed close to median line on each of the abdominal segments I – III and VII, and one pair on the outer submedian area of segment V. Additionally, there are simple pore / porette pairs consisting of two different-sized openings, resembling the base of a spine but appearing symmetrically and consistently in each specimen. Four such pairs are located on the head and 5 pairs on the abdomen, possibly indicating the degeneration of spines. Abdominal segment VII width same as preceding segments. Caudal furrow absent. Vasiform orifice. Elevated, subcordate; operculum subcordate, hind margin straight, concealing lingula. Venter. Thoracic and caudal tracheal folds not evident. Submarginal area with row of distinct granules.	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records. 8C5D878AFFA37E5B14AA7B9DFC15FBF0.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Puparia of this species are unique among Aleurocanthus species in having simple pores (similar to glandular spine bases, but without associated spines) on cephalothorax and abdomen, and trapezoidal-shaped submarginal wax plates associated to each tooth. The simple pores are consistent in all the puparia, and combined with ecological observations, and can’t be interpreted as broken spines.	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records. 8C5D878AFFA17E5914AA7B9DFD44FC44.taxon	description	(Figs 57 – 64) Puparium. Black, oval. Margin with white flocculent wax secretion, median area without wax deposition; 0.93 mm long, 0.65 mm wide. Found on the under surface of the leaf. Margin. Finely toothed with 7 – 8 per 0.1 mm, each tooth with an apical notch and pointed apices. Dorsum. Submargin with a row of knobbed setae. Longitudinal and transverse moulting sutures reaching the margin. Abdominal segments faintly discernible on the median area. Dorsum with 30 pairs of spines (14 pairs on cephalothorax and 16 pairs on the abdomen). Of the 14 pairs on cephalothorax, 5 pairs placed in a row on submargin and 9 pairs on submedian area, of which the anterior 3 pairs are longer and nearly equal to submarginal spines. Of the 16 pairs on abdomen, 10 pairs on submedian of the abdominal segments I – VIII (including 3 anterior and 1 posterior most pairs located close to the median line), and 6 pairs on submargin. Caudal furrow absent. Vasiform orifice. Elevated posteriorly, subcordate, anterior margin slightly thickened, with a prominent projection on the inner posterior margin; operculum similar in shape, covering more than half of the orifice in length and concealing the lingula. Venter. Thoracic and caudal tracheal folds not evident.	en	Lin, Qing-Song, Lu, Lin-Qian, Zhang, Xiao, Dubey, Anil Kumar, Wang, Ji-Rui (2026): A review of the whitefly genus Aleurocanthus Quaintance & Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from China, with description of two new species and two new records.
