Male. Head. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal or ill-defined (Fig. 1A, B); mandible with two to three apical teeth; Metasoma. Tergal process present as a pair of median subnavel-shaped tubercles mesad, located on each side of an elliptical or subcircular depression, the surrounding area may be setose; hypopygium with wide or narrow spiculum, posterior margin straight or medially incurved (Fig. 2A, B). Genitalia. Harpe with apical margin wide and mesad (Fig. 3 GH) or narrow and slightly posterad (Fig. 3A, B), outer margin rounded or angulated, subapical margin angled or rounded; outer lobe of the dorsal aedeagal valve usually strongly ornamented; basal half of aedeagal ventral valve can be ornamented by a basal process and apical half ventral margin with teeth ventrad; basal cover plate subtrapezoidal, however can be absent in some species. Female. Unknown.

Description. Male. Head. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal or ill-defined (Fig. 1A, B), with one angulated or rounded median tooth. Median clypeal carina simple, complete or incomplete, with only exception in D. bicarinatus, which is double. Mandible with two to three apical teeth. Metasoma. Metasomal tergal process as a pair of median subnavel-shaped tubercles, located on each side of elliptical or subcircular depression, located on median third of tergal width (Fig. 1C), tubercles strongly or weakly mesad, often accompanied by a strongly deep fovea in former case and a shallower in latter, both biconcave in dorsal view, surrounding area of depression often setose, with one tuft of setae on each side. Hypopygium with wide or narrow spiculum, posterior margin straight or medially incurved (Fig. 2A, B). Genitalia. Some distinct patterns can be found in several species (Fig. 2C, D) related to the previous definitions of stellatus and vallensis species-groups sensu Azevedo (1999a). Harpe with apical margin wide and mesad (Fig. 3 GH) or narrow and slightly posterad (Fig. 3A, B), outer margin rounded or angulated, subapical margin angled or rounded. Cuspis simple, rounded and without serration. Digitus usually short, about 2× as long as wide, sometimes distinctly elongated, about 4× as long as wide (Fig. 3E, F). Ventral aedeagal valve can have serrated or spinose areas. Many species have a basal ventral process, taking the shape of filamentous (sinuous or rounded) (Figs 3G, 6M), lamellar (serrated or smooth) (Figs 4A, 5M) or denticulate projection (multidentate or unidentate) (Figs 3E, 9L), usually in the most basal or median portion of the ventral aedeagal valve, with the exception of D. torem, which is in the entire basal portion (Fig. 10). Dorsal aedeagal valve much more ornamented, its outer lobe with serrated, filamentous and spinose projections, its inner lobe membranous and slightly setose, rarely with projections, with D. eliasi sp. nov. and D. mortarioni sp. nov. being exceptions (Figs 5H, 7L), dorsal margin of both outer or inner lobes usually with arched or straight anterad tooth in its basal half; aedeagal dorsal valve apex usually narrow and long, except in D. basidentatus and D. cerutus (Figs 5J, 6B), with gibbous and short valve. Basal cover plate subtrapezoidal, posterior margin usually strongly incurved medially, anterior margin outcurved medially, basal cover plate absent in some species (Figs 5B, 9F). Apodema usually does not extend anterior to basal plate. Female. Unknown.

Species included. This species is similar to D. lorgari sp. nov. by having the ventral aedeagal valves wide, narrowing progressively apicad, outer margin entirely rounded, inner apical margin with concavity, and the outer lobe of the dorsal aedeagal valves with filament ventro-posterad. However, D. angroni sp. nov. has two pairs of apical teeth in the outer lobe of the dorsal aedeagal valves, along with another pair of apical teeth on the inner margin of the outer lobe apical portion in dorsal view, whereas D. lorgari sp. nov. has no teeth on the outer lobe of the dorsal aedeagal valves, instead having a ventro-posterad filament.

Material examined. Male. Head. Mandible with three distal teeth; median clypeal lobe trapezoidal, with one rounded tooth, median clypeal carina high and outcurved in profile, incomplete; frons coriaceous, punctures small, and dense; vertex crest straight or nearly so in dorsal view. Male. Head. Mandible with three distal teeth; median clypeal lobe subtrapezoidal, with one angulate tooth, median clypeal carina high and straight in profile or nearly so, incomplete; frons weakly coriaceous, punctures small, and sparse; vertex crest weakly outcurved in dorsal view. Mesosoma . Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin coriaceous. Metasoma. Metasomal segment II with median tergal process tubercle weakly mesad, depression deep with surrounding area setose. Genitalia. Harpe with apical margin wide and mesad, outer margin rounded, inner margin rounded subapically; apex of digitus short, about 2× as long as wide; ventral aedeagal valve with apex anterior to apex of dorsal aedeagal valve, entirely narrow, outer margin sinuous, diverging apicad, apex acute and not bifid, inner margin straight, without concavity, outer margin spinose, ventral margin strongly serrated and without teeth, basal ventral process filamentous, and sinuous, originating laterally; dorsal aedeagal valve narrow and long with two pairs of apical lobes, outer lobe with outer margin smooth, inner margin smooth in dorsal view, apical portion with three pairs of teeth, two ventrad and one posterad, basal portion ventral margin smooth, dorsal margin smooth, inner lobe membranous, gibbous, rounded, larger than outer lobe and its dorsal area not covered by outer lobe when seen in lateral view, dorsal margin with arched tooth anterad, ventral margin smooth; basal cover plate, trapezoidal, and not divided, posterior margin strongly incurved medially, anterior margin straight or nearly so; apodema without apical membrane, not extending anterior to basal plate. Female. Unknown.

Differential diagnosis. This species is similar to D. roboutei sp. nov. by having at least two pairs of apical teeth ventrad on the outer lobe of the dorsal aedeagal valves, a filamentous basal ventral process and the ventral margin of the ventral aedeagal valves strongly serrated. However, D. vulkani sp. nov. has three pairs of apical teeth on the outer lobe of the aedeagus dorsal valves, with a distinct posterad pair, whereas, D. roboutei sp. nov. has four pairs of apical teeth on the outer lobe, without a posterad pair.

Material examined.
