This mite damages the host by inducing oval galls on the lower side of the leaves (Figs 9 & 10).

Etymology. The specific name blachiae is derived from the generic name of the host plant, Blachia, from which the new species was collected; feminine in gender.

Differential diagnosis. We compare the species within the same family of plant host ( Euphorbiaceae) and species of Aceria in China. The new species is most similar to Aceria securinegae Mohanasundaram, 1990, from southern India, but can be differentiated by tarsal empodium 7-rayed (em 6-rayed in A. securinegae, em 5-rayed in A. agallochae), opisthosoma with 67‒71 dorsal and 59‒62 ventral semiannuli (abdomen with 60 semiannuli in A. securinegae and 55 semiannuli in A. agallochae), and setae h2 45‒65 (setae h2 95 in A. securinegae). The new species is also similar to Aceria agallochae Mohanasundaram, 1983, but can be differentiated by tarsal empodium 7-rayed (em 5-rayed in A. agallochae), opisthosoma with 67‒71 dorsal and 59‒62 ventral semiannuli (abdomen 55 semiannuli in A. agallochae), median line on prodorsal shield present (median line absent in A. agallochae), female genital coverflap with longitudinal striae (coverflap smooth in A. agallochae), and coxal area with many granules (coxal area smooth in A. agallochae).

Remarks. During the morphological measurement of the new mite species, we found significant differences in body size, ranged from 150 to 250 μm in length. We therefore additionally measured the body length for alternative 54 female individuals, resulting in a range from 138 to 290 μm. However, for males, eight individuals exhibit a body length range from 140 to 185 μm; no distinct variation was found. Such variation in female body size of Aceria blachiae sp. nov. may reflect underlying intraspecific biological differentiation. Further experimental and molecular investigations are needed to clarify its biological basis.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/7E3B5A340C3EF411B189AE9FFC9BFD44	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
