7B369260FFB441566E9BFF62FE7FFCDA.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. This species is very similar to R. striga (Felder & Rogenhofer, 1874), but can be distinguished by the following characters: In external morphology, forewing mainly dark golden, whereas in R. striga it is pale yellow with a slight orangebrown tint and without a greyish-brown area along the inner margin (Fig. 4); postmedial line fine and somewhat obscure, while that of R. striga is thicker and bordered externally with a prominent brown shade; hindwing concolorous with area along the inner margin of the forewing, while in R. striga it resembles the overall color of the forewing. In male genitalia, distal part of the uncus obliquely directed ventrally, while in R. striga it is only weakly drooping (Fig. 7); basal half of the valva narrower than the distal half, whereas in R. striga the basal half is broader than the distal half; vesica with a single small cornutus, while R. striga bears a long cornutus.	en	Yang, Xiao-Ran, Han, Hui-Lin (2026): A new species of Rhynchina Guenée, 1854 (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Hypeninae) from Yunnan Province, China. 7B369260FFB441566E9BFF62FE7FFCDA.taxon	description	Description. Adult. (Figs. 1 – 3). Wingspan 24 – 28 mm. Head greyish-white; labial palpus obliquely extended forward, each segment grey. Thorax and abdomen grey, with the dorsum of the prothorax slightly suffused with greyish-white. Forewing ground color greyish-brown, covered with dark golden scales from central base to outer margin posterior to plicata and extending to costal margin, accompanied by greyish-white scales on outer side of basal half; postmedial line straight and fine, extending from apex to vein Cu 1, slightly greyish-black near apex and outer margin, greyish-white elsewhere. Hindwing concolorous with ground color of forewing, lacking distinct markings; outer margin slightly concave at vein M 2. Male genitalia (Figs. 5 – 6). Uncus basally bent at nearly right angle, medially shallowly concave, apex slightly deflected ventrally. Tegumen relatively robust, triangular. Vinculum slender, saccus nearly horseshoe-shaped. Juxta double comma-shaped. Valva elongate, flattened sheet-shaped, basal half slightly narrower than other part, cucullus rounded and slightly hairy; costa extending conically, sclerotized; sacculus broad, spoon-shaped, margins slightly raised and weakly sclerotized. Aedeagus cylindrical, slightly narrowed apically; carina sclerotized, slightly extended. Vesica with 1 st basal diverticulum stout, bearing a minute, basal strongly sclerotized cornutus at apex; 2 nd basal diverticulum short, weakly conical. Female genitalia (Fig. 8). Papillae anales moderately wide, with flattened apices. Apophysis anterior and apophysis posterior slender, with apophysis anterior approximately twice as long as apophysis posterior. Ostium bursae straight. Ductus bursae short and straight, slightly sclerotized. Corpus bursae sack-shaped, surface with fine wrinkles and granules, thickly membranous, with the half near the ductus bursae slightly sclerotized, and the half near the distal end bearing some irregular spinous markings.	en	Yang, Xiao-Ran, Han, Hui-Lin (2026): A new species of Rhynchina Guenée, 1854 (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Hypeninae) from Yunnan Province, China. 7B369260FFB441566E9BFF62FE7FFCDA.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Mayerl & Lödl (1999) examined three specimens of R. striga from western Yunnan (two females from Tengchong [= Teng-yueh-Ting] and one male from Nujiang [= Lou-tse Kiang]), and provided adult and genitalia photographs of one female specimen. Based on its locality and morphological characters, this specimen is likely to belong to the new species described herein rather than to true R. striga. This finding suggests that, although the species composition of western Yunnan overlaps with that of the Himalayan region, many species remain to be discovered. The discovery of the new species further highlights the importance of Yunnan as a biodiversity hotspot: the complex topography and climatic heterogeneity of the region may have promoted allopatric divergence between R. striga and the new species; meanwhile, the Yunnan – Guizhou Plateau may serve as both a corridor and a barrier for faunal exchange between the Oriental and Palaearctic regions.	en	Yang, Xiao-Ran, Han, Hui-Lin (2026): A new species of Rhynchina Guenée, 1854 (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Hypeninae) from Yunnan Province, China. 7B369260FFB441566E9BFF62FE7FFCDA.taxon	etymology	Etymology. The specific name obscuraurata is derived from the Latin words ‘ obscurus ’ (dark) and ‘ auratus ’ (gilded), referring to the dark golden color of the forewings in this species. Bionomics (Fig. 10). The species was collected in the submontane zone of Yulongxue-shan, and the habitat is characterized by a cool climate and vegetation dominated by subalpine meadows, interspersed with subalpine coldtemperate coniferous forest.	en	Yang, Xiao-Ran, Han, Hui-Lin (2026): A new species of Rhynchina Guenée, 1854 (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Hypeninae) from Yunnan Province, China.
