Caucasus, Georgia, Imereti region, Kharagauli, <a href="https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/search?materialsCitation.longitude=43.288498&amp;materialsCitation.latitude=42.100887" title="Search Plazi for locations around (long 43.288498/lat 42.100887)">Zemo Imereti Plateau karst massif</a>, <a href="https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/search?materialsCitation.longitude=43.288498&amp;materialsCitation.latitude=42.100887" title="Search Plazi for locations around (long 43.288498/lat 42.100887)">Kozmani cave</a>. (42°06’03.2”N, 43°17’18.6”E; 586 m a.s.l.).</p><p>Distribution. Georgia: Kozmani cave.</p><p>Etymology. The species is named after the village name Boriti, where Kozmani Cave is located.</p><p>Diagnosis (♂). A small-sized hypogean Ephippiochthonius species. Chelicera almost the same size as carapace, movable cheliceral finger without isolated apical tooth (di) and prominent spinneret, lyrifissure ldb present; without eyes or eye-spots, anterior margin of carapace with four macrosetae; chelal hand depressed at level of ib / isb, with a distinct hump distal of ib / isb and moderate slope between trichobothria ib / isb and eb; fixed finger with 16–19 pointed teeth; movable finger with 15–17 teeth, teeth of proximal third decreases in size; pedipalpal femur (♂) 7.9 times longer than broad, length (♂) 0.52 mm; chela (♂) 5.9 times longer than deep, length (♂) 0.74 mm; ratio between movable chelal finger/chelal hand (♂) 1.5 – 1.7; all chelal lyrifissure patterns present in their standard number.</p><p>Type material examined. Integument depigmented; very weakly hipsid granulation on lateral surfaces of carapace, on cheliceral hand and bases of chelal fingers.</p><p>Carapace slightly longer than broad and constricted posteriorly; medial part of anterior margin weakly prominent, without epistome, and strongly dentate; without eyes or eyespots. Chaetotaxy: 4 preocular microsetae, formula mm 4mm:6:4:2:2; lyrifissures: 2 pairs at anterior margin, 1 pair at the posterior margin (Fig. 3A).</p><p>Chelicera slightly shorter than carapace, with 5 setae and 2 lateratl microsetae on hand; hand with one ventral and five dorsal lyriffisures, ldb present. Fixed finger with seven teeth, decreasing in size proximally. Movable finger without an isolated subapical tooth (di), with six teeth decreasing in size proximally; spinneret prominent; seta gl 0.85 mm from base of movable finger (Fig. 3B). Rallum with 6 serrated blades. Serrula exterior with 15 blades, serrula interior 13 blades.</p><p>Chaetotaxy of tergites 4:4:4:4:4–6:4–6:6:4–6:4–6:4–6, tergite IX with two long and two normal sized seta. Chaetotaxy of sternites 12:8:8:4:4:4:4:4:4, genital opening with 7–7 setae on each side and 4+4 internal glandular setae (Fig. 3C).</p><p>Pedipalpal coxa with four setae and two microsetae, distal marginal seta of disk broken, only base visible; coxa I 4+4; coxa II 4+4 and 9+9 spines; coxa III 6+6 seta and 6+6 spine; coxa IV 6+6 seta; intercoxal tubercle bisetose.</p><p>Pedipalp with femoral chaetotaxy 5:6:2:6:1. Chela with hand depressed at level of ib/isb with a distinct hump distad of ib/isb and moderate slope between trichobothria ib/isb and eb; dorsa–lantiaxial surface of the chelal hand between the hump and trichobothria eb/esb flattened, limited by distinct edge; ventral interocondylar bow-like protuberance (ip) present; width equal to depth; chaetotaxy 4:5:3, setae ph 1, ph 2, and ph 4 present; seta ph 3 absent, setae ih 1, ih 3 and ih 4 approximately level with trichobothria ib/isb; distal end of hand and bases of chelal fingers with sclerotized condylar complex. Fixed finger with 19 pointed teeth, the distal one small, of these the 6 proximal teeth decreasing in size, most with dental canals (Fig. 3D); tip of finger with an accessory tooth (td) on antiaxial face; tip of fixed chelal finger of male with a deep hollow on paraxial face and subdistal protuberance (sp); one pair of long antiaxial sensory setae (as) at the base (only base visible), both distad of lyrifissure fb, distance between them 0.03 mm; 3 teeth at the level of est/it occupying 0.1 mm distance between successive apices 0.033 mm. Movable finger with 17 teeth, distal two thirds of finger with pointed teeth, the distal tooth very tiny on a low protuberance; proximal third with six–seven tiny teeth reaching halfway without dental canals; coupled sensilla pc slightly proximal to b. Distance between b–sb 0.09; sb–st 0.18; st–t 0.02.</p><p>Measurements (in mm) and ratios. Male holotype. Body 1.13. Carapace 0.36/0.33 (1.1×). Chelicera 0.32/0.13 (2.4×), movable finger 0.15; ratio of chelicera/carapace 0.86x. Pedipalp: femur 0.52/0.06 (7.9×), patella 0.18/0.09 (1.91×), chela 0.74/0.12 (5.9×), hand 0.29 (2.3×), movable finger 0.44; ratio of movable finger/hand 1.5×, femur/ movable finger 1.1×, femur/carapace 1.4×, chela/carapace 2.0×, chela/femur 1.4×.</p><p>Remarks. The new species is assigned to the genus Ephippiochthonius based on the following characters: chela lagyniform (ephippiochthonian), seta ph 3 in the proximal portion of chelal hand absent, medial protuberance (ip) present between chelal condyles and also presence of subapical protuberance (sp) and subdistal hollow.</p><p>The newly described species from Kozmani Cave differs from E. kovali in having its carapace slightly narrowed in posterior part (almost square in E. kovali), and in having no epistome (weakly expressed epistome in E. kovali). The specific name is derived from the Greek τραπέζιον (trapezion, meaning “little table” or, “trapezoid”), in reference to the trapezoid-shaped carapace.</p><p>Diagnosis. A medium-sized hypogean Ephippiochthonius species. Chelicera smaller than carapace, movable cheliceral finger with isolated apical tooth (di) and prominent spinneret, lyrifissure ldb present; without eyes or eyespots, anterior margin of carapace with two microsetae; chelal hand depressed at level of ib / isb, with a distinct hump distal of ib / isb and moderate slope between trichobothria ib / isb and eb; fixed finger with 20 pointed teeth; movable finger with eight teeth, teeth of proximal third decreases in size; pedipalpal femur (♀) 6.6 times longer than broad, length (♀) 0.69 mm; chela (♀) 2.19 times longer than deep, length (♀) 0.40 mm; ratio between movable chelal finger/chelal hand (♀) 3.3; all chelal lyrifissure patterns present in their standard number.</p><p>Type material examined. The newly described species from Tsintskila Cave can be destinguished from E. boratiensis sp. nov. based on its movable cheliceral finger having an isolated apical tooth (di) (di absent in E. boritiensis sp. nov.), and having 20 pointed teeth on fixed chelal finger (16–19 teeth in E. boritiensis).
