Integument papillae rounded, with folds between the papillae (Fig. 11 E – G). Male (n = 6). Dorsal view: median eye plate approximately shield-shaped, formed by the fusion of the prefrontalia, postfrontalia, Dc 1 and Dc 2; median eye and O 2 located on the median eye plate, with the median eye positioned anterior to the connection line of O 2; Dc 3 fused with each other, and this situation also occurs randomly among Dc 4–5; Dl 1 –4 large, nearly rounded (Figs 11 A, 12 A). Young adult only with dorsalia at the idiosoma surface, while a large porous secondary sclerotization appeared under the integument of the fully mature adult. The two sides of the secondary structure almost parallel, extending from the frontal margin to the posterior margin of the idiosoma, but not enclosing the eye capsules, D 1 – D 4, V 4 and slit organs (Figs 12 A, 13 A). Ventral view: coxae in four groups; the tip of coxae with several pairs of short, thick setae; posterolateral corners of Cx-II and Cx-III with several pairs of long, thick setae; excretory pore circular, with a thickened and sclerotized margin; a pair of ventral plates lateral to the excretory pore (Figs 12 B, 13 B). Pregenital sclerite and postgenital sclerite small; genital field with three pairs of acetabula; genital flaps divided into three pairs; the first pair small, located on the anteromedial side of Ac 1 and with two pairs of setae; the second pair triangular, located on the medial side of Ac 2 and with 7–11 pairs of setae; third pair very small, located on the medial side of Ac 3 and with 1–3 pairs of setae (Figs 11 C, 12 F, 13 E). Lateral view: So 1 – So 3 located on the front side of Dc 1 – Dc 3; So 4 on the side of Dc 4, So 5 in front of Dc 5 (Figs 12 C, 13 C). Frontal view: A 2 located lateral to the eye capsules (Figs 12 D, 13 D). Posterior view: So 5 lateral to V 4 (Fig. 12 E).

Gnathosoma with a short rostrum and two pairs of setae (Figs 12 G – H, 13 F – G, 14 A). Palp five-segmented; P- 1 short, with one dorsal seta; P- 2 with four dorsal and one lateral pinnate setae; P- 3 with two dorsal pinnate setae; P- 4 terminal with three fine setae and a seta-like protrusion; P- 5 short, with some thick setae anteriorly (Figs 12 I, 13 H, 14 B – E). Chelicera shape conventional, chelicera claw concave on lateral side, with a row of teeth on medial side (Figs 12 J, 13 I, 14 F – I).

Legs robust; except for the sixth segments, all segments with a large number of short and stout setae; I – II-L- 6 with both stout and fine short setae anteriorly, and near the dorsal margin in centre with one row of short, fine setae arranged vertically to the leg segments; III – IV-L - 6 with a few long setae anteriorly (Figs 15 A, 15 B, 15 D, 15 E, 15 H, 15 I, 15 K, 15 L, 16 C – F). Claws simple, with a smooth surface without teeth, but lateral and medial sides both with a groove (Fig. 15 G).

Female (n = 4). General characteristics similar to the male (Figs 17 A – H, 18 A – J). However, the porous secondary sclerotization under the integument of the fully mature adult female is different from the male: the porous secondary sclerotization under the female integument grows from the median eye plate and Dc 3–5 and extends laterally (Figs 11 B, 11 F, 11 G, 17 A – C, 17 E – H, 18 A – E, 18 G – L). Genital field longer than in male; pregenital sclerite arrow-shaped (Figs 11 D, 17 D, 18 F). Legs similar to male except I – II-L- 6 with less setae (Figs 15 C, 15 F, 15 J, 16 A – B, 16 G – L).

Measurements.

Male (n = 4) and female (n = 4). See Table 2 for details.

Remarks.

Adults of Deuterothyas crescentis Zhan & Guo, sp. nov. develop porous secondary sclerotized structures under the integument as they mature. For the fully mature adults, this characteristic can easily distinguish the new species from other species of the genus. However, the young adult with not-yet-developed secondary sclerotization is somewhat similar to Deuterothyas variabilis Lundblad, 1941, but these two species can be differentiated by the following characteristics: (1) in the new species, the median eye plate is formed by the fusion of the prefrontalia, postfrontalia, Dc 1, and Dc 2, whereas in D. variabilis, the median eye plate does not comprise Dc 2; (2) compared to the latter species, the male genital field of the new species is shorter; (3) the second pair of genital flaps is triangular in the new species, while in D. variabilis it is approximately trapezoidal (Lundblad 1969; Cook 1974).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/AAC700BFF1AE5BA2B9FA389C192D6E62	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Chelicera shape conventional, chelicera claw concave on lateral side, with a row of teeth on medial side (Figs 4 J, 5 F – I).

Legs robust; except for the sixth segments, all segments with a large number of short and thick setae; I – II-L- 6 with evenly arranged both thick and thin short setae anteriorly, and near the dorsal margin in the centre with 2–3 rows of short, fine setae arranged vertically to the leg segments; III – IV-L - 6 with a large number of lamellate setae at the ventral side from the centre to the anterior end (Figs 6 A – B, 6 D – E, 6 H – I, 7 B – C, 7 F – I, 7 K – N). Claws simple, the smooth surface without teeth (Figs 6 G, 7 E, 7 J, 7 O).

Male (n = 2). General characteristics similar to the female (Figs 3 C, 3 F, 8 A – C, 8 E – H). Pregenital sclerite very small and concealed between the Ac 1 (Fig. 8 D). Ejaculatory complex anterior view: proximal arms well sclerotized, strong, heavy, almost parallel; distal arms well sclerotized, short, bent at base (Fig. 8 I). I – II-L- 6 with more setae than female (Figs 6 C, 6 F, 7 A, 7 D).

Measurements.

Male (n = 2) and female (n = 6). See Table 1 for details.

Remarks.

Panisopsis (s. str.) lixunae Zhan & Guo, sp. nov. can be distinguished from most species in the genus by its approximately inverted trapezoidal median eye plate and large dorsal plates (Cook 1959; Di Sabatino et al. 2010). The new species is similar to P. (s. str.) garzeensis Zhong & Guo, 2024 . However, the two species can be differentiated by the following characteristics: (1) in the new species, the median eye is positioned anterior to the connection line of O 2, whereas in P. garzeensis, the median eye is located on the connection line of O 2; (2) the ventral platelets of P. (s. str.) garzeensis are relatively small, while those of the new species are comparatively larger; (3) compared to P. garzeensis, the gnathosomal base of the new species is shorter; (4) in the new species, III – IV-L - 6 with a large number of lamellate setae on the ventral side from the center to the anterior end, but this feature is absent in P. (s. str.) garzeensis (Zhong et al. 2024) .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/49855E8410CC59CEB30D67C9A8A7F72B	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
