Anhui Province: Lu’an City, Jinzhai County, Huashi Town, Qianping Village, on the ground in a mixed forest of Castanea seguinii Dode, Quercus fabri Hance, Q. delavayi Franch and Pinus taiwanensis Hayata, 939 m, 25 July 2017, Y. J. Hao 1589 (HKAS 101906!). Description: — Basidiomes tiny to small. Pileus 20 – 50 mm in diameter, convex to applanate, dry, covered with reddish-brown (6 B 4) to chocolate (5 D 8), adpressed to more or less erect pyramidal scales, 2 – 4 mm high, 3 – 5 mm in diameter at base, background light reddish-brown (4 A 3) to light chocolate (5 D 5); margin more or less appendiculate with triangular veil remnants concolorous with pileal ground; context white (8 A 1), staining grayish-black (7 B 1) then black (10 E 1) on exposure. Tubes emarginate with decurrent tooth, white (6 A 1) then smoky gray (8 C 1); pores angular, small, 0.5 – 1 mm in diameter; pores and tubes concolorous, whitish (14 A 1) then smoky gray (4 D 1), immediately staining rusty red (6 D 8) then black (17 F 8) on exposure. Stipe 30 – 50 mm long, 4 – 9 mm in diameter, subcylindrical, curved; surface reticulate due to the decurrence of tubes at apex, covered with light grayish-brown (6 B 3) to chocolate (5 D 8) fluff on the upper part and reddish-brown (6 B 4) to chocolate (5 D 8) fluff on the lower; context white (8 A 1), discoloration similar to that of tubes; annulus absent; basal mycelium dirty white (5 B 1) to grayish-white (6 B 1). Basidiospores [80 / 4 / 3] 8 – 10 × 7 – 8 (– 8.5) μm (Q = 1.11 – 1.20 (– 1.29), Q m = 1.15 ± 0.04) excluding ornamentation, subglobose to broadly ellipsoid, dark brown (7 D 5), completely reticulate with meshes 1 – 2 μm in diameter and 1 – 1.5 μm high; apiculus 0.5 μm long, with a smooth adaxial patch. Basidia 30 – 40 × 12 – 15 μm, narrowly clavate to clavate, 4 - spored; sterigmata 5 – 8 μm long. Hymenophoral trama boletoid; hyphae cylindrical, 8 – 12 μm in diameter. Cheilocystidia 28 – 35 × 10 – 15 μm, subfusiform to sublageniform, hyaline or with yellow-brown (5 B 7) plasmatic pigment, thin-walled. Pleurocystidia 30 – 50 × 12 – 25 μm, narrowly lageniform to subfusiform with long beak, thin-walled. Pileipellis an intricate trichodermium, composed of 9 – 12 μm wide cylindric to submoniliform hyphae with short obtuse terminal cells; cell wall dark brown (5 E 8), slightly thickened (<1 μm). Pileal trama composed of 4 – 9 μm wide interwoven hyphae. Hyphae of scales on stipe similar to those on pileus. Stipe trama composed of 5 – 11 μm wide cylindrical hyphae. Clamp connections absent. Habitat and distribution: — Solitary in a mixed forest of Castanea seguinii, Quercus fabri, Q. delavayi and Pinus taiwanensis; currently only known from the type locality.
