CMMI 20250331072 –20250331075), • 4 males, 4 females, same data as holotype .</p><p>Diagnosis.</p><p>Pereonite 1 posterior margin with an arcuate prominence; the prominence merges with the lateral margin of the pereonite into a continuous broad arcuate structure. Pleopod 1 exopod outer lobe as long as inner lobe. Pereopod 7 carpus with a straight tergal margin.</p><p>Description.</p><p>Body length of males 6–8 mm, of females 7.5–9 mm. Body elongated and convex, about 2.5 times as long as widest pereonite (Fig. 2 E).</p><p>Left mandible with molar process carrying 3 teeth and lacinia mobilis with 3 teeth; 2 + 1 penicils between lacinia mobilis and molar process; pars molaris consisting of several plumose setae on a short common socket (Fig. 8 B). Right mandible with molar process carrying 3 teeth and lacinia mobilis with 2 teeth; pars molaris consisting of several plumose setae on a short common socket (Fig. 8 C).</p><p>Maxilliped endite rounded with four spurs, palp slender (Fig. 8 D). Maxilla distally bilobate and setose, inner lobe wider than outer one (Fig. 8 E). Maxillula with outer branch bearing 4 + 5 teeth; inner branch with 2 long penicils and a triangular posterior point (Fig. 8 F). Noduli laterales on pereonites 1–4 much farther from lateral margins than those on pereonites 5–7 (Fig. 8 G).</p><p>Cephalon with rounded lateral lobes, medial lobe arched, not surpassing lateral lobes in dorsal view. Eye with 13–16 ommatidia (Fig. 9 A). Antennula of three articles; bearing a tuft of aesthetascs at apex (Fig. 8 A). Antenna with fifth article of peduncle longer than flagellum; with distal article 1.5 times as long as the proximal one (Fig. 9 B).</p><p>Pereonite 1 posterior margin with an arcuate prominence; the prominence merges with the lateral margin of the pereonite into a continuous broad arcuate structure (Fig. 9 A). Pereopod 1 with a brush of long setae on the carpus and merus (Fig. 9 C). Pereopod 6 basis fringed with long setae (Fig. 9 D). Pereopod 7 ischium rostral surface with a shallow depression; carpus with a straight tergal margin (Fig. 9 E).</p><p>Pleopods 1–5 exopods with monospiracular internal lungs (Fig. 9 F – J). Genital papilla fusiform. Pleopod 1 exopod oval, outer margin sinuous, apex bilobed, outer lobe as long as inner lobe (Fig. 9 F). Pleopod 2 exopod nearly triangular, bearing several setae on the outer margin (Fig. 9 G). Male pleopod 1 endopod with broad basal part, narrowed towards apical tip, apex acute and bent outwards (Fig. 9 F); male pleopod 2 endopod longer than exopod, distal article thin and long (Fig. 9 G). Pleopods 3–5 exopods bearing one line of setae on outer margin (Fig. 9 H – J). Telson triangular, approximately 1.5 times as wide as long, lateral margin slightly concave at proximal one third, posterior apex pointed; uropodal exopod about 2.8–3.2 times as long as protopod (Fig. 9 A).</p><p>Remarks.</p><p>The new species is very similar to Mongoloniscus xianensis sp. nov. in overall appearance and male pleopods, but it can be distinguished from the latter in that the pleopod 1 exopod outer lobe is as long as the inner lobe, and the pereopod 7 carpus has a straight tergal margin. Furthermore, molecular analyses support the two as distinct taxonomic entities (Fig. 3).</p><p>Etymology.</p><p>The name refers to the distinct arcuate prominence on the posterior margin of the pereonite in this new species. The specific name is derived from the Latin arcus - = arcuate, prominens - = prominent (referring to the arcuate prominence on the pereonite). Telson triangular, approximately 1.3 times as wide as long, lateral margin slightly concave at proximal one third, posterior apex pointed; uropodal exopod about 3–3.2 times as long as protopod (Fig. 5 A).</p><p>Remarks.</p><p>The new species is very similar to M. racovitzai (Arcangeli, 1927), comb. nov. in male pleopods, but it can be distinguished from the latter by the straight tergal margin of the pereopod 7 carpus. In the phylogenetic analyses, the relationship between this species and the other Mongoloniscus species is well-supported.</p><p>Etymology.</p><p>The name refers to the type locality of this new species. However, phylogenetic analyses placed it within the Mongoloniscus clade, recovering M. xianensis sp. nov. and M. arciprominens sp. nov. as sister species. The clade comprising these two species was sister to M. parvus (Fig. 3). These findings suggest that pereonal epimera morphology alone does not reliably distinguish Koreoniscus from Mongoloniscus .</p><p>Etymology.</p><p>The name refers to the type locality of this new species, Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, China.
