5034879F0914736E23E8F8E9574058A5.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Turnicola ossiani differs from the type species of Turnicola by the following combination of characters (see figures of the type species in Chen et al. 2026): preantennal area proportionately wider and more rounded in T. ossiani (Fig. 3); dorsal anterior plate proportionately shorter and wider in T. ossiani (Fig. 3); weakly defined dorsal postantennal suture present in T. ossiani (Fig. 3), but absent in other species; male tergopleurites VII – VIII with accessory, reticulated dorsal plates in T. ossiani (less sclerotised in some specimens; Fig. 1), but without such plates in other species. Sternal plates are slightly more visible in T. ossiani (Figs 1 – 2) than in other species, but this may be due to different methods of clearing and mounting specimens. Male and female genitalia are here compared to those of the type species only. Male ventral sclerite of the mesosome is narrower in Turnicola ossiani (Fig. 6) than in Turnicola angustissimus (Giebel, 1866), and T. ossiani lacks the circle-like structure near the distal end of the ventral sclerite found in T. angustissimus. The lateral arms overlapping the mesosome are proportionately shorter, and with 3 setae on each side in T. ossiani, but proportionately longer and with 2 setae on each side in T. angustissimus. The parameres of T. ossiani (Fig. 5) are slenderer and not as curved as in T. angustissimus. The vulval chaetotaxy of both species overlap somewhat, but specimens of T. ossiani (Fig. 7) have only 1 vms on each side (2 vms in T. angustissimus), 8 – 10 vss on each side (6 – 8 vss in T. angustissimus), and 9 – 10 vos on each side (at least 7 – 8, but may be more in T, angustissimus). The subvulval plates have a different shape in these two species, with those of T. ossiani having more slender proximal ends and more curved median margins (Fig. 7). The other nominal species included in Turnicola — T. nigrolineatus (Piaget, 1885) and T. platyclypeatus (Piaget, 1880) — need to be redescribed to compare their genitalia with those of T. ossiani.	en	Gustafsson, Daniel R. 5034879F0914736E23E8F8E9574058A5.taxon	description	Description Both sexes. Overall habitus as in Figs 1 – 2. Preantennal head about as wide as postantennal head, without secondary sclerotization along frons (Fig. 3). Dorsal anterior plate broadly pentagonal, with posterior margin somewhat convergent to median angle. Thickened midline spur of dorsal anterior plate only barely overlapping with main head plate. Head chaetotaxy as in Fig. 3. Dorsal postantennal suture visible but poorly defined, medianly continuous near occiput and anteriorly approaching antennal sockets. Thoracic and abdominal segments and chaetotaxy as in Figs 1 – 2. Leg chaetotaxy as in Fig. 8. Tergopleurites unpigmented, but with posterior ends of tergopleurites III – VI less densely sclerotized (indicated by grey lines in Figs 1 – 2). Sternal plate and male subgenital plate not or very weakly sclerotized, here illustrated tentatively. Abdominal chaetotaxy typical for genus. Male. Scape slightly longer than in female (cf. Figs 3 – 4). Basal apodeme of more or less uniform width (Fig. 5). Proximal end of mesosome slender, distal end broadly flattened (Fig. 6). Ventral sclerite slender, with well-defined lateral thickenings for most of length. Distally, ventral sclerite convergent to rod-like end, not adorned with any accessory sclerites, but with 2 or 3 gpmes visible on each side. Lateral arms overlapping with mesosome long and slender, with 3 setae on each side near apical end. Parameres slender, with pst 1 – 2 as in Fig. 5. Measurements as in Table 1. Female. Scape about as long as broad (Fig. 4). Subgenital plate semi-oval, strongly bulging distally (Fig. 7). Vulval margin strongly bulging, with 1 long, slender vms and 8 – 10 short, slender vss on each side; 9 or 10 short, slender vos forming near parallel rows medianly on subgenital plate. Subvulval plates with median margin somewhat arched, and anterior end slender. Measurements as in Table 1.	en	Gustafsson, Daniel R.
