501BAD4E6751A42CFF6DFB1BFB6BD41A.taxon	discussion	Phylogeny and comparative notes. Morphology. Richtersveldiella is phylogenetically sister to Yamalaka Borovec & Meregalli, 2013, from which it differs mainly in the rostrum being posteriorly separated from the head by a wide, straight, transverse furrow; in addition, the rostrum has distinctly rounded sides, at the widest point wider than the head including the eyes, the epifrons is distinctly vaulted in lateral view, and, dorsally, has sides converging towards the base, the ventral side of the rostrum is extremely short, about as long as the diameter of the eye. COI barcoding fragment. Compared with Yamalaka erikae Borovec & Meregalli, 2013, the type species of the genus Yamalaka, Richtersveldiella sanparkensis differs in 108 or 110 sites (depending on the population) out of 657, with a mean p-distance of 16.58 (respectively, 16.43 and 16.74). When the sequence is translated into the corresponding amino acids, 13 out of 219 vary. Such a high variation supports the genus-rank differentiation of the new taxon. Discussion. In Meregalli et al. (2021), a Bayesian analysis of the mitochondrial COI sequences allowed for the recognition of the Namaini. One species of Namaini (namely, “ sp. 342 + 343 ”) clustered together with the two species of Yamalaka Borovec & Meregalli, 2021, albeit in a relatively isolated position. Since this species is quite well differentiated phenotypically, particularly in the shape of the rostrum, a mixed analysis, including the morphological matrix, was implemented. Its results confirmed that “ sp. 342 + 343 ” clusters, among the Namaini, in the same clade as the two species of Yamalaka, but is sister to them and has a very long branch-length (Fig. 1). For this reason, we assigned this species to the new genus Richtersveldiella, sister to Yamalaka.	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). 501BAD4E6753A429FF6DFD72FB85D58E.taxon	distribution	Distribution and conservation (Fig. 6). Richtersveldiella sanparkensis has been found in three locations: one population in two spots near Akkedis Pass, and another south of the Koeroegab plains, on the rocky hills. Its presence in locations that are not very close to each other, with genetically almost undifferentiated populations, suggests that this species may have a more continuous range between the two known populations and is not in immediate danger, even though it might be considered vulnerable (IUCN criteria A 3 c, d suspected future population decline in case of habitat changes or prolonged drought or mining activities, B 2 a, known in 2 subpopulations, and potentially with fewer than 10 populations, and B 2 b, projected decline in habitat quality because of climate change). It seems to prefer rocky habitats, where it was found by sifting below Euphorbia shrubs.	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). 501BAD4E6756A429FF6DFECBFB95D2A8.taxon	description	Fieldwork conducted on Kodaspiek resulted in the discovery of several specimens of a species of Pentamerica Borovec & Meregalli, 2021, whose phenotype is almost indistinguishable from that of P. pentamera (Borovec & Meregalli, 2013), except for minor variations in the shape of the genitalia, but has a p-distance of 11.23 in the COI sequence. Considering the phenotypical similarity between P. pentamera and P. gazella, we avoid giving a detailed description of the new species, as it would match almost perfectly that of P. pentamera (see Borovec & Meregalli 2013), and provide here only comparative remarks on the differences (see Figs. 3 and 4). Comparative description. Size: 1.65 – 1.85 mm. A species of Pentamerica phenotypically almost indistinct from P. pentamera. Article 2 of the antennal funicle slightly narrower and 2 × as long as wide (1.5 × as long as wide in P. pentamera), ratio length / width of pronotum 1.42 – 1.45 (1.32 – 1.38 in P. pentamera), lateral expansion slightly more rounded, rather than relatively acute. Penis slightly broader, with parallel sides and longer apical expansion, spermatheca with cornu slender, scarcely curved, long tapered apicad; corpus globose, prominent; ramus longer than wide, tube-shaped; collum very long, tubular, 2 × as long as ramus. Molecular differences. Two specimens of this population were sequenced for the mitochondrial COI barcoding fragment. Pentamerica gazella differs from P. pentamera in 73 – 74 sites out of 657, corresponding to a mean pdistance of 11.23. Such a value is indicative of a specific differentiation from P. pentamera. The assessment of p-distance in taxonomy is now widely used to define the rank of distinct populations, especially in the case of sibling species. For weevils, the COI sequence contributed substantially to inferring the taxonomy of Rhamphus (Toševski et al. 2025). In various studies, on weevils as well as other taxa, the intraspecific p-distance ranged between 0 and 3 (Hebert et al. 2003; Decru et al. 2022; Bertheau et al. 2025), while a p-distance greater than 5 is usually considered indicative of specific differentiation. When the COI sequence is translated into the amino acids, P. gazella differs from P. pentamera in 3 amino acids out of 219: a proline vs. an alanine in position 171, a phenylalanine vs. an alanine in position 203 and a phenylalanine vs. a tyrosine in position 204.	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). 501BAD4E6756A429FF6DFECBFB95D2A8.taxon	distribution	Distribution and conservation (Fig. 6). This species was found near the summit of Kodaspiek by sifting soil beneath a gazelle latrine, the only place that retained some moisture in an otherwise extremely arid area. The considerable p-distance from P. pentamera, which was found in two spots not far from Helskloof Pass, only about 10 – 12 km away, suggests that these two species, which are obviously monophyletic, have been isolated from each other for a long time and, most likely, have a small area of occupancy and a small population size. Therefore, they may be highly sensitive to habitat changes, with particular regard to prolonged drought or vegetation deterioration. It is rather complex to apply the IUCN Red List criteria (IUCN 2024) to insects, due to inherent difficulties in sampling and monitoring. However, according to our surveys, P. gazella may be considered critically endangered (A 3 c, d, suspected future population reduction caused by decline of the area of occupancy and habitat quality, due to climate change, with long periods of drought, and possible interference by grazing or mining activities; B 2 a, area of occupancy estimated to be less than 10 km 2 and known to exist at only one location, and B 2 b (iii), projected decline of quality of habitat). Any change to the habitat, such as the destruction of the natural vegetation or livestock overgrazing, should be strictly avoided, as it could lead to the extinction of the species.	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). 501BAD4E675BA422FF6DFDF7FB7CD3B2.taxon	distribution	Distribution and conservation. This species was found southwest of Helskloof Pass, on a small hill separating two small valleys (Figs 6, 8). It has not been found to the north of Helskloof Pass, but it may be present in the currently unexplored valleys east of the type locality. It has not been found on the mountains surrounding the type locality to the west, in a drier habitat. In the absence of data from the valleys east of the type locality, it is impossible to determine its conservation status, which must be listed as data deficient. Considering that it is replaced by its sister N. vanwyki only 11 km away and that it has not been found in any of the other parts of the Richtersveld that have been investigated, it is likely that it has a very narrow range, possibly limited to a single population located in the small valleys north of the Vandersterrberg; it is therefore at risk in the event of habitat deterioration.	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). The two specimens were found by sifting litter in two different types of vegetation, one (the holotype) at the edge of natural vegetation, mostly associated with Perdebos Vegetation (Didelta spinosa (L. f.) Aiton, Asteraceae) on steep southern slopes with a mixture of woody karroid shrubs and succulents with bulbs and rich herbaceous undergrowth during winter months, whereas the paratype was sifted under Mesembryanthemum subnodosum A. Berger (Aizoaceae) in Succulent Shrubland mostly associated with Asbos Vegetation (M. subnodosum) due to secondary growth after severe degradation of vegetation in the Armmanshoek valley, as a result of livestock overgrazing (notes on the vegetation by Pieter Van Wyk, personal communication).	en	Borovec, Roman, Meregalli, Massimo (2026): A new genus and six new species of Namaini from the Richtersveld (South Africa, Northern Cape) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae).
