Male body slender, size rather medium; surface rugose. Head. Finely rugose-granulose integument. Lateral view (Fig.3A–B). Head slightly oblique, with the occiput and vertex slightly rounded; vertex visible; fastigium triangular, projecting beyond the eyes, directed forwards; frontal ridge well marked; eyes oval shape; antennal groove situated in the third superior level of the upper margin of eyes; antennae ensiform; antennal scape, pedicel, last segments, and gena yellowish (Fig. 3A–D); 14 antennomeres, distal antennomere with a small projection as a tooth; occipital suture yellowish. Frontal view (Fig.3C). Fastigium produced; frontal ridge widely divergent, forming a scutellate frontal structure (as shield-shaped); lateral ocelli placed close antennal groove, median ocellus located slightly below the antennal groove; scape, pedicel, fascial carina, front region and clypeus with some yellowish points. Dorsal view (Fig.3D–E). Fastigium produced trigonal, the apex slightly rounded, shallowly excavated, margins distinct; occipital area rugose; short medial carina of vertex present from the eyes to occipital area; vertex between the eyes wide as a compound eyes horizontal diameter. Pronotum. Most greenish, integument rugose granulose. Lateral view (Fig.3A–B). Pronotum moderately tectate, median carina slightly elevated; cephalic margin not produced over the head; cephalic margin sinuous; pronotal disk cut by three transverse sulci, two transverse depressions extending parallel between first and second sulci, the sulci not reaching the lower margin of the lateral lobe; lower margin of the lateral lobe of pronotum with a yellow stripe; mesoepisternum, mesoepimeron, metaepisternum, and metaepimeron yellowish just below the costal margin of the tegmina. Dorsal view (Fig.3E, 4A). Cephalic margin not produced, caudal margin rounded obtuse-angulate; three transverse sulci. Tegmina (Fig. 3A, 3F). Tegmina is slightly shorter than the pronotum, reaching the third abdominal segment; tegmina slender, posterior part truncated obliquely on distal half, apex narrow and rounded; veins distinct, and irregularly reticulate. Legs (Fig.3A–B). Fore and middle legs and hind tibiae hirsute; distal tarsal segment longer than the proximal. Hind femur robust, not surpassing the tip of abdomen, dorsal and ventral margins serrulate, hind femur green, inner face reddish; semilunar processes, dorsal lobe and ventral lobe of hind knee yellowish. Hind tibiae slightly shorter than the femur, outer margin with 7 spines, inner margin with 8 spines, reddish and hirsute; proximal segment of the hind tarsus is longer than distal segment. Abdomen (Fig.3A–B, 4A–B). Tergites and sternites hirsute, most evidently hairy in the sternites and terminalia segments; greenish tergum and yellowish sternum. Posterior margin of the 10th abdominal tergite thickened and with five black projections. Epiproct triangular, tapering towards the posterior end, dorsal surface with black callosities aligned in the medial region and other small black callosities randomly distributed. Cerci conical shaped with basal internal process small. Subgenital plate simple, cupuliform without ornamentation. Phallic complex (Fig. 4C–G). Epiphallus bridge short; lophi prominent, melanized, with two subconical projections, one anterior short, and one posterior bigger and slight bend at tip; melanization in the regions around the subconical projections (dorsal view) (Fig. 4C–D). Ancorae triangular, anterior projections rounded, lateral plates poorly developed, posterior projections enlarged. Oval sclerites semi-ovoid. Ectophallus with cingulum elongated, zygoma and rami well-developed (Fig. 4E–F). The sheath of aedeagus slightly rounded in lateral view, reaching the top of the dorsal valves of aedeagus (Fig. 4E, 4G); both valves almost covered by sheath of aedeagus. Short aedeagal valvae (Fig. 4E, 4G); lateroventral sclerites melanized apically (Fig. 4E–F).

Female Unknown.

Holotype measurements (mm): BL: 24,07; FL: 1,61; P: 4,93; TL: 4,20; HFL: 10,80.

Intraspecific variation. Known only from the type locality.

Remarks. Lysacris species display a morphological homogeneity, however Lysacris deltoides Silva sp. nov. can be readily distinguished from other species by its triangular, slightly pointed fastigium (in dorsal view), and the distinctive epiphallus bearing melanized lophi with two subconical projections being one short anteriorly, and the other longer and slightly curved distally.Additionally, Lysacris deltoides Silva sp. nov. is clearly distinguished from Locheuma brunneri (Scudder, 1875) because of its pronotum morphology and black callosities, tegmina, terminalia, phallic complex morphology and body robustness (Fig. 2A). Although morphologically more similar to L. sylvestris (Fig. 2B), the new species differs in the peculiar head projection, the configuration of the genitalia, the absence of well-defined dorsal stripes on the disk of pronotum, and the coloration of the hind tibiae.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/470087A0FF9DCB08F58DFD3D8706FBD6	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
