2864C778A21DFFC2FF01FCBEFAA83D4A.taxon	diagnosis	Differential diagnosis. Allotrogodendron gen. nov. differs from Trogodendron as follows: eyes widely separated (1.8 – 2.12 eye widths, compared to 1.25 – 1.5), facets moderately fine (notably finer in Trogodendron); elytra elongate (length to width ratio range 2.25 – 2.52: 1, compared to 1.95 – 2.2), elytral post-basal umbo only moderately prominent; scutellum positioned lower than level of elytral surface; loss or extreme reduction of tibial carination (putative synapomorphy in relation to Trogodendron); males without abdominal setal sex patches; tegmen with ventral sinus more than half as long as dorsal sinus (Fig. 2). Ocular hind margin concave, spicular fork dividing near base, slender pygidial arms and broadly open tegminal dorsal sinus separates Allotrogodendron gen. nov. from superficially similar Olesterus and Dyslophocera. Tibial spur formula 1 - 2 - 2 differentiates Allotrogodendron gen. nov. from Neoscrobiger, while that, plus rounded (non-truncate) elytral apices and males without grossly enlarged terminal antennomeres separates it from Parascrobiger gen. nov..	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A21DFFC2FF01FCBEFAA83D4A.taxon	etymology	Etymology. The generic epithet Allotrogodendron (from Greek allos, meaning ‘ other’, Greek trogo, to ‘ gnaw’ and Greek dendro-, ‘ tree’), i. e., ‘ the other tree gnawer’, is a reference to the genus Trogodendron to which the included species were hitherto assigned.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A21DFFC2FF01FCBEFAA83D4A.taxon	discussion	Remarks. As it appears to be the case with Trogodendron and Dyslophocera (see below), species diversity within Allotrogodendron is likely to be greater than currently known, with the possibility of non-conspecificity of specimens superficially similar in appearance revealed by examination of dissected tegmina and pygidia.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A21BFFC3FF01FEC4FEEF38EE.taxon	diagnosis	Differential diagnosis. Head. Antennae (Figs 7, 8, 16 – 20) bright yellow, long (almost reaching pronotal base), clavate, flagellomeres cupuliform, substantially thick (not slender filiform), thickness gradually increasing distad, club of terminal three segments blended with gradual thickening of segments, terminal segment of males longer than females; eyes separated by 1.3 – 1.7 eye widths, ocular hind margin straight (Fig. 13) (not obviously concave as in Trogodendron); terminal maxillary and labial palpomeres strongly securiform. Thorax. Pronotum (Fig. 7, 16 – 20) globose, basal collar very narrow (less than ¾ pronotal width); elytral base sub-basal hump inconspicuous (not protuberant as in some Olesterus species) with setal tuft (Fig. 8) not densely penicillate as in Parascrobiger and Trogodendron (see Figs 59, 83). Abdomen (males). Distal margin of fifth abdominal ventrite with small medial notch (Fig. 14) (Olesterus with larger emargination as in Fig. 45, or ventrite plain); tegmen (Figs 9, 10) broadest at tegminal arms, arms not looped below point of fusion to phallobasic apodeme, dorsal sinus narrow; median lobe (Fig. 11) with nodulate apical process; spicular fork (Fig. 12) with sides fused to beyond half total length; pygidial arms broadly lobate (Fig. 15). Straight ocular hind margin, Y-shaped spicular fork, broad pygidial arms and narrow tegminal dorsal sinus separates Dyslophocera (and Olesterus) from Trogodendron. Antennal colour and form (bright yellow with thickened flagellomeres and elongated terminal segment of males in Dyslophocera, vs. black to reddish brown, flagellomeres filiform and terminal segment not obviously sex-dimorphic in Olesterus) and eye separation (1.3 – 1.7 vs. 1.8 – 2.3 eye widths) separates Dyslophocera from Olesterus.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A21BFFC3FF01FEC4FEEF38EE.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Schenkling (1900) initially used the elongated terminal antennomere of Dyslophocera mirabilis Schenkling to justify separation of his new genus Dyslophocera from the superficially similar Trogodendron but, soon after (Schenkling 1902), synonymised Dyslophocera with Trogodendron after realising that the antennal elongation is a characteristic of males only. During the present study, differences observed between the male pygidia, tegmina, spicular forks and ocular hind margins of Olesterus and Trogodendron species provided evidence in favour of Trogodendron mirabile (Schenkling) being more closely related to Olesterus than to Trogodendron. The bright yellow, thickened antennomeres (suggestive of Trogodendron or Scrobiger) are, however, incongruent with typical Olesterus. The available name Dyslophocera is therefore resurrected. The genus Dyslophocera contains one described, and numerous undescribed, species all exhibiting a strong degree of homogeneity in superficial appearance, but distinguishable from each other mainly by the length of terminal antennomeres of males, size of the posteromedial notch of the male fifth ventrite, pronotal length to width ratio, shape of the pale elytral fascia, distribution of elytral punctation posteriad of the median fascia, tegminal form and shape, and proportions of male pygidium. Description of several new species (e. g., Figs 16 – 20), which variably differ from D. mirabilis in the states of the abovementioned characters, was not undertaken here because (a) the main focus of the present paper is to clarify the status of Australian Opilonina genera and, (b) additional material from museum collections is required to maximise thoroughness of a species-level taxonomic revision.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A21AFFC0FF01F887FFC43832.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Conforming to the above revised diagnosis, including median lobe with a thread-like distal process, Neoscrobiger stirlingensis (Gerstmeier) comb. nov. (Figs 36 – 40), is transferred from the genus Olesterus. During the present study, enough variation was observed in the length of pygidial arms, form of tegminal base, elytral maculation and shape of terminal antennomeres in males, in specimens conforming to Neoscrobiger patricius (Klug) (Figs 29 – 35), to warrant further investigation into the species status of the presently synonymised available names Notoxus pulcher White and Notoxus sexnotatus Westwood. A preliminary attempt to match dissected males to type specimens of these taxa was made, however, as more specimens were studied the lines between any apparent morphological distinctions became more blurred. More work is needed, with taxonomic elucidation of N. patricius ‘ sensu lato’ requiring a focused investigation outside the scope of the present paper. At least one additional new species, close to N. rauciceps, with distinct mainland and Tasmanian forms, also requires further investigation prior to formal description. One new species (N. kaputarensis sp. nov.), however, being distinct from N. rauciceps and N. patricius, is described below.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. Originally described in the genus Olesterus by Gerstmeier whose illustration of the distal half of the aedeagus shows an apically filamentous median lobe (Gerstmeier 1990: fig. 34). Photographs of the dissected aedeagus, spicular fork and pygidium of a male Olesterus stirlingensis paratype (Figs. 37 – 39, courtesy R. Gerstmeier), and firsthand examination of the holotype and two paratypes (listed above), confirmed congenericity with Neoscrobiger patricius and other members of the genus.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A216FFCCFF01FBDBFE153AE6.taxon	diagnosis	Revised differential diagnosis. Head. Antennae brown or black (not bright yellow), flagellomeres narrowly filiform (terminal segments less obviously sexually dimorphic than Dyslophocera); eyes separated by 1.8 – 2.3 eye widths, ocular hind margin straight (not obviously concave as in Trogodendron); terminal maxillary and labial palpomeres strongly securiform. Thorax. Pronotum globose, basal prothoracic collar notably narrow, less than 3 / 4 pronotal width; elytral base with conspicuous raised hump (Olesterus australis Spinola and related species, as in Fig. 43) or relatively flat (e. g., O. tuberculosus Gestmeier), basal setal cluster, if present, not notably dense or penicillate (as it is in Trogodendron and Parascrobiger gen. nov.). Abdomen (males). Distal margin of fifth abdominal ventrite with large medial emargination (as in O. australis and related species, see Fig. 45), or plain (as in O. tuberculosus); tegmen (Fig. 46) broadest at tegminal arms, arms not looped below point of fusion to phallobasic apodeme, dorsal sinus narrow; median lobe (Fig. 47) with nodulate apical process; spicular fork (Fig. 48) Y-shaped, point of bifurcation closer to distal end than to base; pygidial arms broadly lobate (Fig. 44). Straight ocular hind margin, Y-shaped spicular fork, broad pygidial arms and narrow tegminal dorsal sinus separates Olesterus (and Dyslophocera) from Trogodendron. Antennal colour and form (black to reddish brown vs. bright yellow, flagellum slender-filiform vs. thickened) and eye separation (1.8 – 2.3 vs. 1.3 – 1.7 eye widths) separates Olesterus from Dyslophocera.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A216FFCCFF01FBDBFE153AE6.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Gerstmeier (1990) included within Olesterus seven species including four newly described. Olesterus rufiventris was transferred to Monilonotum by Bartlett & Lambkin (2022) and Olesterus stirlingensis Gerstmeier is transferred in this paper (see above) to Neoscrobiger. Attempts to locate the type specimen of Olesterus micans Pic in Paris (MNHN) and other European Museums, by German cleridologist Roland Gerstmeier, and by the author, were unsuccessful. The revised diagnosis facilitates the transfer of Olesterus rufipes (Elston) comb. nov. (Fig. 49) from Trogodendron. The genus Olesterus presently contains six described, and several undescribed, species. Preliminary study by the author revealed three putative species-groups. An ‘ australis - group’, containing O. australis (Figs 41 – 48), O. rufipes comb. nov. (Fig. 49) and at least three undescribed species (Figs 50 – 52), have a strongly protuberant hump at the base of each elytron (e. g., Fig. 43), a broadly excavated posterior margin of the fifth ventrite in males (e. g., Fig. 45) and the elytral fascia oblique. The species of a putative ‘ tuberculosus - group’, containing O. tuberculosus (Fig. 54), and at least two undescribed species (Figs 55, 56), have non-protuberant elytral bases, a straight elytral fascia, and males with non-emarginate fifth ventrites. The last group, containing O. gracilis (Fig. 53) and O. ornatus, are characteristically less robust, and smaller in size (between 7 and 8 mm) than their congeners (8 to 15.5 mm). Description of several new species, variably differing from the described species (e. g., Figs 50 – 52, 55, 56), was not undertaken here for the same reasons given above for Dyslophocera. Included species. Olesterus australis Spinola, 1845; Olesterus gracilis Gorham, 1876; Olesterus micans Pic, 1941; Olesterus ornatus Gerstmeier, 1990; Olesterus rufipes (Elston, 1921) comb. nov.; Olesterus tuberculosus Gerstmeier, 1990. Several undescribed species are known to the author.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A214FFCBFF01F92CFB3E3816.taxon	etymology	Etymology. The generic epithet Parascrobiger (from Greek, pará, meaning near, with reference to the genus Scrobiger) was selected to reflect a sister group relationship, putatively proposed here, between Parascrobiger monstrosus (Gorham) comb. nov. and the species of Scrobiger.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. (2026): Australian Opilonini (Coleoptera: Cleridae: Clerinae) part III: taxonomy of Neoscrobiger Blackburn, Olesterus Spinola, Scrobiger Spinola and Trogodendron Spinola, resurrection of Dyslophocera Schenkling rev. stat., with descriptions of Allotrogodendron gen. nov., Parascrobiger gen. nov., and two new species. 2864C778A214FFCBFF01F92CFB3E3816.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Dissections revealed that, unlike species of Trogodendron, Dyslophocera and Olesterus, the median lobe of Trogodendron monstrosum Gorham is apically furnished with a thread-like filamentous process (Fig. 63) as observed in all species of Scrobiger (Figs 71, 79) and Neoscrobiger (e. g., Figs 24, 33, 39). Unlike Neoscrobiger, the tegmina of Scrobiger spp. and T. monstrosum have the tegminal arms bowed before fusion to the phallobasic apodeme, with the arc of the bow extending lower than the point of attachment (see Figs 61, 62, 69, 70, 77, 78). To the author’s knowledge, among the world’s Clerinae, such a condition is documented only for five Australian species (Scrobiger and Parascrobiger gen. nov.) and one South American species, Priocera stictica Gorham (see Opitz 2021, fig. 72). The loss of one mesotibial spur, demonstrated as derived by Solervicens (2007), is synapomorphic for Scrobiger in relation to Parascrobiger gen. nov., while the loss of hindwing cross vein CuA 1 (see remark by Bartlett 2021: 742) and highly modified antennae of males are synapomorphic for Parascrobiger gen. nov. in relation to Scrobiger.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A212FFC8FF01FB39FC363B1D.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Scrobiger albosignatus Pic syn. n. is here proposed as a junior subjective synonym of Scrobiger albocinctus based on first-hand examination of type specimens of both species (in NHML and MNHN respectively). Bartlett (2009) reported on presumed apivory by Scrobiger splendidus on native bees of the genus Hylaeus Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Colletidae) in southeast Queensland. Variation among specimens diagnosable as Scrobiger splendidus, with a collective distribution spanning the entire range of the genus, requires investigation.	en	Bartlett, Justin S. 2864C778A20FFFD7FF01FEB5FDAF3816.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Trogodendron sensu stricto (i. e., Trogodendron fasciculatum (Schreibers) and species with close resemblance) differs morphologically from former Trogodendron species transferred above to Allotrogodendron gen. nov. as follows: elytra short and broad (length to width ratio range 1.95 – 2.19: 1), elytral post-basal umbo more prominent; scutellum elevated, projecting above elytral surface, scutellar plate anteriorly-directed; meso- and metasternal processes between mesocoxal cavities ventrally projecting; all tibiae with complete longitudinal carinae; males with setal sex patches on abdominal segments four and five; tegmen with ventral sinus less than half as long as dorsal sinus. The concave ocular hind margin, V-shaped spicular fork, slender pygidial arms and broadly open tegminal dorsal sinus separates Trogodendron from Olesterus and Dyslophocera. Tibial spur formula 1 - 2 - 2, rounded (non-truncate) elytral apices and males without grossly enlarged terminal antennomeres separates Trogodendron from Parascrobiger gen. nov. Distance between eyes (1.5 eye widths or less) separates Trogodendron from Allotrogodendron gen. nov. and Dyslophocera. The eye facets are notably finer in Trogodendron compared to those of Allotrogodendron gen. nov., Olesterus and Dyslophocera.	en	Bartlett, Justin S.
