The new species is similar to members of the C. complicata species group, but can be distinguished from them by the dark brown colour of its hingwings, and lack a wing pattern. It resembles C. wilemani in male genitalia (Trofimova et al. 2016: Gen. fig. 108), but the latter has shorter subapical dorsal spur and a completely rounded apex in the super-uncus.

Description. Male adult (Figs 1–2, 15). Forewing length: 19–20 mm. Antennae bipectinate, brown, with yellowish-brown branches. Vertex and frons with greyish hairs. Labial palpi brown, grey distally. Thorax light taupe, mixed with dark brown hairs. Forewings brown with sparse dark brown scales; basal area pale brown; subbasal line dark brown; antemedial, medial and postmedial lines indistinct, dark brown; reniform spot with dark brown border; subterminal line dark brown, bordered by a pale brown line; terminal line wavy, dark brown. Forewing venation with the R-cell wide and short; R 3, R 4 and R 5 shortly stalked, arising together from the upper angle of R-cell; Ml originating from the upper angle of the discal cell; M 2 and M 3 originating from the lower angle of the discal cell, respectively; Cu 1 parallel to Cu 2. Hindwings dark brown, without wing pattern; Rs and M 1 shortly stalked; M 2, M 3 and Cu 1 originating from the lower angle of the discal cell. Abdomen brown.

Male genitalia (Figs 8–9). Super-uncus with a concavity and a subapical spur medially. Gnathus with two finger-shaped setose lobe. Valvae ovoid; dorsal lobe membranous; saccular lobe sclerotized, forming forceps-shaped structure. Juxta membranous plate-like. Aedeagus robust; everted vesica tubular, densely covered with a spinulate field at the base.

Type materials. This species is morphologically similar to C. wolongensis (Figs 7, 12), but can be distinguished from it by the male forewings, which have a clear dark discal spot and a broader reniform spot; and by the male genitalia, which possess a pair of slender processes in the super-uncus and a saccular lobe that is shorter apically.

Description. Female adult (Fig. 4). Forewing length: 45 mm. Antennae bipectinate, off-white, with weak reddish-brown branches. Vertex, frons and thorax pale brown mixed with dark brown hair. Labial palpi dark brown. Abdomen light brown. Forewings light grey with sparse dark brown scales; antemedial and medial lines blurred, black; the reniform spot large, with an indistinct black border; postmedial and terminal lines wavy, black; subterminal line black, gradually blurred from costa to inner margin. Hindwings greyish brown, marginal line brown.

Female genitalia (Fig 13).Anal papillae broad.Anterior apophyses nearly as long as posterior apophyses.Antrum weakly sclerotized.
