(1998) based on a single female holotype from Luxi, Hunan, China. Epeus bicuspidatus was originally described by Song et al. (1988) based on the male holotype from Mt Jianfeng, Hainan, China, and its female was later described by Meng et al. (2015) based on specimens from Fanjingshan, Guizhou, China. The type localities of these two species are geographically close and the female genitalia have considerable morphological resemblance, including a shallow epigynal depression, inward-facing copulatory openings, and thin, strongly coiled copulatory ducts (Peng et al. 1998: figs 13–15; Meng et al. 2015: figs 11–14; Vu et al. 2025: fig. 1 E, F). Therefore, T. luxiensis is considered to be a junior synonym of E. bicuspidatus .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/7793B6B2C97D5378A4228A19F413909B	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Thyene radialis closely resembles the original description and illustrations of T. orientalis in having the conical RTA, the slender embolus originating at the 6 o’clock position, and the linguiform TF (Fig. 10; Żabka 1985: figs 632, 633; Xie and Peng 1995: figs 2, 6). Although minor differences are observed, such as the origin of the TF, the thickness of the tegulum in retrolateral view, and the presence of three or four radial striae on the bulbus in T. radialis (Xie and Peng 1995: fig. 6 B; Logunov 2021 b: fig. 144; Wang et al. 2023: fig. 50 B). These differences are considered to be the intraspecific individual variation.

Examination of the type material of T. zhangi found no morphological differences between it and T. orientalis (Fig. 12; Ikeda 2013: figs 24, 25; Wang et al. 2023: fig. 51), except for the bilateral asymmetry of the copulatory duct, which has been reported in T. orientalis by Iwanaga et al. (2026). Therefore, these differences are also interpreted as intraspecific individual variation rather than taxonomic distinctions, and T. zhangi considered herein as a junior synonym of T. orientalis .

In summary, T. radialis and T. zhangi are herein regarded as junior synonyms of T. orientalis .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/7339F7DEEC35581AAD89C3E0A92DF73D	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
