Frons coarsely punctured. Very similar to Ernoporus tiliae, but without projecting asperities along the front margin from the pronotum which is slightly broader than long and semicircular in outline. Elytra with uniseriate rows of distinct punctures, very fine and short setae arising from punctures, the interstriae finely punctured, main interstrial setae long, broad, scale-like.

Distribution.

Kenya, Tanzania.

Remarks.

Due to the lack of specimens after the loss of the unique type, it is not possible to assess this species. However, no consistent morphological differences were found and only one species is inferred. A slight difference noted in the thinner elytral setae in the Tanzania population was contradicted by the closer relationship genetically to the Ugandan population which has elytral setae identical to those from Cameroon. The genetically variable species does not group with E. onyanganus and morphologically differs in the interstrial setae by their shorter length. This species is therefore resurrected as valid.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/19B0B037059350E980A23C9EF260B14F	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The genetic data indicated a close relationship with Ernoporus, albeit poorly supported. Analyses of a larger taxon set, consisting of 28 S nucleotides only, indicated a slightly closer relationship to Procryphalus, but without any strong support.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/2AF9B6C991FC500B89AB6A3C0D7202DD	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
