Roots numerous, rhizome very short. The plant bears minute glandular trichomes. Erect, 15–60 cm high. The stems are slender, quadrangular, and typically unbranched. They are generally glabrous except for the young growth and nodes, which are sparsely covered with retrorse, short hairs. Leaves usually 4–5 pairs, clustered in the upper part of the stem, petiolate; petiole 5–25 mm long, shorter upward, sometimes nearly absent, densely pubescent when young, adaxially grooved, groove margins sparsely pubescent or pilose; leaf blade somewhat fleshy, ovate, ovate-elliptic, or ovate-lanceolate, 5–11×1.5–5, base slightly cordate, apex acute or acuminate, sometimes rounded or slightly curved, margin sparsely undulate-crenate or coarsely toothed, rarely nearly entire, adaxial surface very sparsely minutely pubescent or nearly glabrous, more so along veins, midvein impressed, abaxial surface sparsely pilose or very sparsely short-pubescent along veins or nearly glabrous, midvein raised. Flowers paired, forming terminal, rarely axillary, false racemes, covered with short pubescence or minute hairs; bracts small, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, nearly sessile, pubescent, margins ciliate, toothed or nearly entire; pedicel short, ca. 2 mm long, minutely pubescent, near base with a pair of bracteoles; bracteoles subulate, ca. 1 mm long. Calyx tubular at anthesis, gradually widening toward the throat, 1.1–1.3 cm long, 15-veined, externally minutely pubescent, glabrous within; calyx lobes 5, bilabiate; upper lip 3-lobed, 3–5 mm long; lower lip 2- lobed; lobes triangular-ovate, about 1/3 the length of the calyx, apex acuminate, margins ciliate. Corolla purple or pink, 3.5–4 cm long, externally minutely pubescent, internally pilose only at the base of the tube, not forming a ring of hairs; corolla tube tubular, straight or slightly sigmoid, gradually expanded in the upper half; limb bilabiate; upper lip erect, 2-lobed, lobes oblong; lower lip enlarged, 3-lobed; midlobe nearly square, apex truncate or sometimes flabellate; lateral lobes oblong, nearly equal to or half the size of the midlobe. Stamens 4, included; posterior pair inserted below the upper lip at the corolla throat, anterior pair inserted below the lateral lobes of the lower lip near the middle of the corolla tube; filaments broad, flat, glabrous; anthers 2-thecous, glabrous. Ovary 4-parted, glabrous. Style slender, longer than stamens, slightly exserted, apex 2-cleft. Disk cup-shaped, lobes inconspicuous, anteriorly finger-like enlarged. Mature nutlets not seen. Flowering July–September, fruiting after September.

Distribution and habitat: Meehania faberi is endemic to China, primarily distributed in Sichuan and Chongqing, where it inhabits temperate biomes, particularly mixed forests and shaded slopes at elevations of 1500–2500 m. Its primary associated species include Phoebe zhennan, Machilus nanmu, Acer laevigatum, Turpinia affinis, Macropanax rosthornii, Zingiber longyanjiang, and Hedychium flavescens .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/1160E44AFC5FE20EFF7D7005FCAF8D4D	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
