Fruits and seeds not seen.

Distribution and habitat: —Probably endemic to Bolivia (Fig. 1A), so far recorded only from the Santa Cruz Department. It is commonly found in secondary shrubland.

Phenology: —Collected in flower in June and August.

Etymology: —The specific epithet honors Bolivia, where the species was discovered, highlighting its probable endemic status and restricted distribution in Santa Cruz Department.

Preliminary conservation status: — Collaea boliviana is known from only two collections in Santa Cruz Department, Bolivia. Given this extremely limited information, the species is provisionally assessed as Data Deficient (DD) according to IUCN (2022) criteria. Further field surveys are needed to clarify its distribution, population size, and conservation status.

Notes: — Collaea boliviana shares similarities with C. speciosa, such as the elliptic leaflets and the orbicular standard. It also resembles C. maxima in having red petals and pedicels up to 15 mm long.

Collaea boliviana differs from both by having smaller, narrower leaflets (26–40 × 6–10 mm in C. boliviana vs. 44– 99 × 11–33 mm in C. speciosa and C. maxima), a much shorter petiolule (ca. 1 mm vs. 2–8 mm), shorter inflorescences (ca. 2 mm vs. 11–58 mm), and the color of the calyx tube indument (light yellow to whitish vs. golden).

Additional specimen examined (paratype): — BOLIVIA. Inflorescences 6–10 mm long, 4-flowered; basal bracts ca. 6 × 9 mm, slightly oblong, glabrous inside with sparse apical pubescence, densely velutinous outside; bracteoles 11–12 × 4–5 mm, lanceolate, conduplicate, glabrous inside, densely villous outside; pedicel 8–11 mm long, densely whitish villous. Flowers 21–27 mm long; calyx 15–19 × 7–8 mm, tube 6–8 mm long, glabrous inside, densely villous whitish outside, lobes 4, whitish sericeous inside, densely whitish villous outside, upper lobe 7–9 × 7–10 mm, broadly oblong, apex cuspidate, lateral lobes 7–9 × 4–5 mm, lanceolate, apex acute, lower lobe 10–12 × 5–6 mm, lanceolate, conduplicate at apex; corolla whitish-lavender (pale bluish-purple) to mauve (light-purple); standard petal reflexed, flat, claw 5–6 mm long, glabrous, blade 25–27 × 20–21 mm, orbicular to suborbicular, glabrous inside except for sparse pubescence near the apex, velutinous outside, apex emarginate, base with two inflexed rounded auricles ca. 2 mm long, two glabrous callosities present near base and middle of the blade; wing petals 23–25 × 9–12 mm, asymmetrically oblong, apex obtuse, sparsely pubescent dorsally, claw 7–8 mm long; keel petals 23–24 × 7–10 mm, asymmetrically oblong, apex obtuse, glabrous, fused for 6–8 mm near apex, claw 7–8 mm long; androecium pseudomonadelphous, 23–25 mm long, stamens fused into a tube, vexillary stamen free for 10–12 mm at base, other filaments free for 5–8 mm at apex; anthers 1–2 mm long, elliptic; ovary 11–12 mm long, sessile, straight, laterally flattened, densely whitish translucent villous, style 11–13 mm long, sparsely villous toward apex, slightly curved, stigma truncate. Legume 45–87 × 8–13 mm, straight, laterally flattened, densely velutinous, dark brown with whitish indument. Seeds not seen.

Distribution and habitat: —Restricted to southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro states) (Fig. 1B), occurring in the Mantiqueira and Serra do Mar mountain ranges. It grows in rocky soils of high-altitude grasslands at elevations between 1850–2400 m.

Phenology: —Collected in flower in May, July, September, and October, and in fruit in May, July, and September.

Etymology: —The specific epithet honors Dr. Haroldo Cavalcante de Lima, a distinguished Brazilian botanist whose significant contributions to the study of Leguminosae have greatly advanced our understanding of this family in Brazil.

Preliminary conservation status: — Collaea limae has an area of occupancy (AOO) of 20 km ² and an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 5,107.3 km ². These values meet the thresholds for Endangered under AOO (<500 km ²) and for Vulnerable under EOO (<20,000 km ²). The species is known from only a few collections in eight localities in the high-altitude grasslands of southeastern Brazil, mainly in the Serra da Mantiqueira. This mountain range, like other montane areas of the Atlantic Forest, has undergone significant historical degradation, with much of its original vegetation replaced by forests, pastures, or agricultural crops (Martinelli 2007; Gonzaga & Menini-Neto 2017). Based on these data, we provisionally assess this species as Vulnerable (VU), under criterion B1B2ab(iii) of the IUCN Red List (IUCN 2022).

Notes: — Collaea limae is distinctive in its conduplicate leaflets (vs. flat in other species). It is closely related to C. cipoensis, sharing shortly petiolate leaflets (3–5 mm long), elliptic to narrowly elliptic blades, and glabrous callosities on the standard petal. However, it can be distinguished by its whitish-lavender to mauve petals (vs. red in C. cipoensis), longer petiole (5–7 mm vs. 1–3 mm), whitish calyx indument (vs. golden), and emarginate apex of the standard petal (vs. rounded). It also resembles C. coccinea in having elliptic to narrowly elliptic leaflets, bracteoles 9–13 mm long, a standard petal externally pubescent to velutinous, and androecium 23–33 mm long. Nevertheless, C. limae differs by its deltate bracts (vs. slightly oblong in C. coccinea), whitish calyx indument (vs. golden), whitish-lavender petals (vs. scarlet), and a suborbicular standard petal with glabrous callosities (vs. obovate with pubescent to densely velutinous callosities).

Additional specimens examined (paratypes):— BRAZIL.
