Molecular results: A Cytb sequence obtained from ILS H. 3696 (GenBank accession number PX 851958) collected on Mount Po Ma Lung was very similar (99.01 %) to the holotype of Hebius jingdongensis (GenBank accession number OR 285310; Ma et al. 2023). Comments: Two adult females were encountered at night in forest habitat, one moving across a dry stream bed at 2613 m asl (22.615552 ° N 103.479427 ° E) and the other alongside a flowing stream at 2353 m asl (22.606212 ° N 103.474989 ° E). This species was recently described as new to science (Ma et al. 2023). This is the first time it has been recorded anywhere other than the type locality which is 300 km to the northwest (Jingdong County, Yunnan Province, China). This is the first record of the species occurring in Vietnam. Furthermore, the species description reports that specimens were collected at 2400 m asl (Ma et al. 2023), our record extends the known elevation range upwards by 213 m. The males of this species have not been described. Scalation of the female specimens collected on Po Ma Lung differed from the type series (see supplementary materials I).	en	Kane, Daniel, Nguyen, Luan Thanh, Tran, Tuyet-Dzung Thi, Gumbs, Rikki, Jervis, Phillip A., Mccormack, Timothy E., Tapley, Benjamin (2026): A preliminary survey of the reptiles of Mount Po Ma Lung, with two new country records for Vietnam. 03B5879DFFB79431FF0FFD15FF035564.taxon	discussion	Comments: This newly described species was previously only known from Yuanyang Guanyinshan Provincial Nature Reserve, Yuanyang County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China 72.25 km to the northwest of Mount Po Ma Lung. This is the first record of this species occurring in Vietnam. Furthermore, the original species description reports that specimens were collected at 2400 m asl, we show that this species occurs at elevations between 2277 and 2559 m asl. Two individuals (two adult females) were encountered active at night moving along the ground in forest habitats. ILS H. 3655 encountered on 08 of August 2023 at 1957 h as the snake was moving under a leaf on a rock near a stream bank (22.602469 ° N 103.473946 ° E; 2559 m asl) and ILS H. 3657 on August 9 2023, at 1945 h, as the snake moved on a tree root (22.603056 ° N 103.473626 ° E; 2277 m asl). Both specimens were associated with open forest with a canopy of evergreen trees, a lower shrub layer up to a height of around 2 – 3 m, and more open patches of low vegetation. Streams are common in such habitats in these locations and the snakes have been seen resting on rocks in the stream and under stream bank overhangs, sheltered from the water flow. This species was described from an all-male type series. A full description of female Ovophis zhaoermii is provided in the supplementary materials II based on ILS H. 3655.	en	Kane, Daniel, Nguyen, Luan Thanh, Tran, Tuyet-Dzung Thi, Gumbs, Rikki, Jervis, Phillip A., Mccormack, Timothy E., Tapley, Benjamin (2026): A preliminary survey of the reptiles of Mount Po Ma Lung, with two new country records for Vietnam. 03B5879DFFB79431FF0FFEC9FE0D5297.taxon	materials_examined	Material: ILS H. 3705 (adult male; Fig. 1 D). Molecular results: A COI sequence obtained from ILS H. 3705 (GenBank accession number PX 851960) collected on Po Ma Lung was similar (96.19 %) to a sample attributed to Pseudoxenodon macrops from Mengzi, Yunnan, China (GenBank accession number OQ 416696). Wu et al. (2022) reported at least three lineages of Pseudoxenodon macrops from China. The type locality for Pseudoxenodon macrops is from near Darjiling, India and there is no associated molecular data for this species in this part of India. Further study is needed to confirm the identity of Pseudoxenodon cf. macrops on Mount Po Ma Lung. Comments: One adult male was encountered on the path at night in forest habitat on 09 August at 2259 m asl (22.601002 ° N 103.474241 ° E).	en	Kane, Daniel, Nguyen, Luan Thanh, Tran, Tuyet-Dzung Thi, Gumbs, Rikki, Jervis, Phillip A., Mccormack, Timothy E., Tapley, Benjamin (2026): A preliminary survey of the reptiles of Mount Po Ma Lung, with two new country records for Vietnam. 03B5879DFFB79437FF0FF94AFC17524C.taxon	discussion	This preliminary reptile survey of Mount Po Ma Lung has yielded two new species to the checklist of reptiles of Vietnam (Hebius jingdongensis and Ovophis zhaoermii). These new country records involve species that have been described as new to science since 2022 and they have not been subject to any IUCN Red List Assessment. The extinction risk of these species should be assessed as a priority. We anticipate that these new range data which are supported with molecular data will help inform these assessments. This survey was extremely short in duration and while it was specifically timed to coincide with a period of known reptile activity, it is likely that we did not detect many species that are present on Mount Po Ma Lung. Literature on reptiles of the Hoang Lien Range is relatively sparse. However, 66 species of colubrid snake are reported from further south in the Range at Mount Fansipan (Orlov et al. 2010; Kane et al. 2023) and our survey detected the presence of just two colubrid species. Future surveys should be undertaken at other times of the year to coincide with the activity periods of other species that could be present and much greater survey effort of Mount Po Ma Lung is warranted. During our survey we observed degradation of the forest associated with fuelwood collection for the tourism industry. This has been reported elsewhere in the Hoang Lien Range (e. g. Tapley et al. 2017) and the impact of development of tourism in sensitive mountain sites should be carefully assessed and mitigated. At elevations below 2300 m asl, the forest is being degraded to establish cardamom plantations. Whilst we detected some species in or at the edge of such plantations (e. g. Protobothrops jerdonii), many species may not tolerate the land use change.	en	Kane, Daniel, Nguyen, Luan Thanh, Tran, Tuyet-Dzung Thi, Gumbs, Rikki, Jervis, Phillip A., Mccormack, Timothy E., Tapley, Benjamin (2026): A preliminary survey of the reptiles of Mount Po Ma Lung, with two new country records for Vietnam.
