03A05C16263EFFE798E7CAA8FA6C2EDE.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The male genitalic morphology of Rhicnogryllus has been reported to be highly diversified (Tan et al., 2020), and this is the same for the species from the Philippines (Fig. 2). For examples, the male genitalia of R. bipunctatus resembles that of Svistella Gorochov, 1987; whereas that of R. olivaceus Tan & Alo, sp. nov. (Figs 2 G, 2 H) resembles that of Trigonidium Rambur, 1838; and R. fascipes (Figs 2 A, 2 B) and R. paetensis (Figs 2 E, 2 F) with vastly different shapes. Consequently, the generic status of Trigonidium solis Tan, Baroga-Barbecho & Yap, 2019 from Siargao Island needs to be reconsidered. In its original description, Tan et al. (2019 a) already stated the species’ resemblance to Rhicnogryllus but proposed that the species be placed under Trigonidium based on the genitalia morphology. However, new material studied here suggests that genitalia morphology may not be appropriate for generic placement. As such. we recommend that a robust molecular phylogeny will be needed to more accurately ascertain the generic placement of these species.	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines. 03A05C16263FFFE798E7C928FBE42ADE.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis (new). Tan et al. (2020) redescribed the species. Here, based on new material, we provide an updated diagnosis. The species is characterised by its fore and middle legs black and the forewing at the basal end without any pattern (Figs 5 A, 5 B); the male subgenital plate fairly broad without a nodule at the posterior margin (Fig. 4 A); and the male genitalia with the posterior end of the pseudepiphallus forming a pair of slender triangular lobules with the apices somewhat hooked, between the two lobules broadly and deeper and angularly emarginated, its pseudepiphallic lophi long and slender, substraight with the apex acute and slightly hooked, pseudepiphallic parameres basal half strongly sclerotized elongated and posterior end expanded into semi-membranous lobules (Fig. 5 C).	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines. 03A05C16263FFFE798E7C928FBE42ADE.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species was previously known to occur in Mindanao. But new material suggests that it is also present in Negros Island. From Negros Island, we also observed two colour variants: a brown, lighter form (Fig. 5 A) and a black, darker form (Fig. 5 B). The male genitalia and diagnostic characters remain consistent among these two colour variants.	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines. 03A05C162639FFEC98E7CB88FD382E2D.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. This new species is characterised by the vibrant green colouration, its hind femur with inner surface at the middle having a black spot, the male subgenital plate at the posterior margin with a broad and stout nodule; and the male genitalia asymmetrical, sclerotized bridge of pseudepiphallus distinctly curved, posterior edges of pseudepiphallic sclerite forming a broadly rounded stout lobule, with only on the right side forming a thin, sclerotized lophus having its apex with one or two very small teeth; the pseudepiphallic parameres externally boomerang-shaped, internally forming membranous lobules. The new species shares similarities in terms of male genitalia with Trigonidium solis Tan, Baroga-Barbecho & Yap, 2019 from Siargao Island, by the shape of the pseudepiphallic bridge curved, shapes of pseudepiphallic lobules; but it differs by pseudepiphallic lophus only present in one side and with its apex having small tooth; the inner margin at the base broadly indented (instead of narrowly emarginated); and the pseudepiphallic parameres forming membranous lobules (instead of more sclerotized process). The two species also differ distinctly by the general colouration, with the new species lacking black patterns on the forewings and subgenital plate (present in T. solis); although both species share the black spot (sometimes faint) on the inner surface of their hind femora.	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines. 03A05C162634FFE998E7CE0BFC442D0C.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. This new species is characterised by the male subgenital plate rather narrow at the apex with a distinct nodule at the posterior margin; and the male genitalia with the basal margin of pseudepiphallus deeply and broadly emarginated, posterior apex of pseudepiphallus forming flattened obliquely triangular lophi, ectophallic apodeme fairly short, endophallic sclerite very elongated. It also differs from other congeners in the Philippines by the colours and patterns: dorsum of head with transverse band (absent in R. paetensis and R. olivaceus sp. nov.), fore and middle legs not black (compared to R. fascipes, R. bipunctatus and R. vittatus sp. nov.), pronotum orange or brown with anterior and posterior margins black; hind femur with two black bands (instead of one in R. fascipes). This new species also differs from the lighter form of R. fascipes by the forewings infumated black between the veins, the fore and middle legs not black and hind femur with two black bands (instead of one black band).	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines. 03A05C162631FFF598E7CD31FC442881.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The new species is characterised by its fore and middle legs black and the forewing at the basal end having a white transverse band (narrower and less distinct in females), the male subgenital plate fairly broad without a nodule at the posterior margin; and the male genitalia with the posterior end of the pseudepiphallus forming a pair of triangular lobules with their inner margins dentated and apices subacute, between the two lobules narrowly and deeply furrowed, its pseudepiphallic lophi mostly straight with the apex acute and slightly hooked, pseudepiphallic parameres basal half strongly sclerotized, angularly curved outward at mid-point with triangular external process and posterior third weakly sclerotized, expanded into lobules pointing posteriorly, external one more triangular than tongue-shaped, slightly surpassing internal one and slightly more sclerotized. The new species is similar to R. fascipes by the colour and patterns on the face and head dorsum, as well as the shape of the male subgenital plate The male genitalia are also most similar to that of R. fascipes by the shape of the pseudepiphallic lobules and lophi and the pseudepiphallic bridge sclerotization; but differ by pseudepiphallic lobules less slender and with dentated inner margins, and the lophi more robust and shorter. The new species is also similar to R. bipuncatus by the general colouration pattern; but differs by the forewing having a transverse white band (instead of an oval spot) and by the shape of the male genitalia.	en	Tan, Ming Kai, Daguplo, Jiandy, Modina, Ris Menoel R., Alo, Joanna Rose A., Haibil, Helen H., Mapi-Ot, Emmarie F., Macas, Jessie Jay P., Omandam, Junel E., Nuñeza, Olga Macas, Yap, Sheryl A., Robillard, Tony (2026): A taxonomic review of Rhicnogryllus (Orthoptera, Trigonidiidae, Trigonidiinae) from the Philippines.
