Fine and dense fingerprint-like microsculpture transverse on clypeus, longitudinal on vertex, parallel to margin on frontal border, transverse on mentum and submentum, and diagonal on ventral side. Labrum (Fig. 2 D) arcuate, anterior margin with approximately 12 setae; median two setae distinctly shorter than lateral ones. Mandibles incurved apically; small tooth present on medial margin of right mandible but absent on left mandible. Maxillary palpi (Fig. 2 E) with segments I and II equal in length, III and IV almost equal in length, IV slightly longer but narrower than III. Labial palpi (Fig. 2 E – F) 3 - segmented, segment II and III equal in length, II narrower than III. Mentum (Fig. 2 F) trapezoidal, sides slightly outcurved and bearing seta on each side; anterior margin bearing nine setae; seta situated in each bottom angle. Antennal (Fig. 2 G) scape cylindrical; antennomere II narrower than scape, III basally constricted and approximately as long and wide as II; IV – VII longer than wide; III – IX moniliform (bead-like); XI bullet-shaped; I – III glabrous, IV – XI pubescent. Pronotum (Figs 1 B, 2 H) approximately inversely triangular; lateral margins slightly sinuate posteriorly; surface with fingerprint-like microsculpture and fine punctation; punctures finer and sparser than on head; median longitudinal sulcus visible but faint anteriorly and posteriorly. Scutellum (Fig. 1 B) with transverse microsculpture. Mesoventrite (Fig. 2 I) with coarse reticulation. Legs (Fig. 3 A – C) with tibia bearing distinct strong spines at apex of lateral side; protibia (Fig. 3 A, D) bearing bristles lined along one side and 6 – 10 spinules lined on opposite side; tarsi with 5 tarsomeres, first four condensed and together equal in length with apical tarsomere (Fig. 3 A – C). Elytra (Fig. 1 B) longer than wide together; lateral margins gradually widening posteriorly; surface with longitudinal fingerprint-like microsculpture and sparse fine punctures; lateral portion with four setiferous punctures. Abdominal sternite III (Fig. 3 E) with basal ridge and discontinuous subbasal ridge; tergite VIII (Figs 3 F – H, 4 A) with sides parallel in front 1 / 4 and tapering in posterior 3 / 4, with posterior margin narrowly round; sternite VIII (Fig. 4 B) gradually narrowed posteriorly, with posterior margin truncate; tergite IX (Fig. 3 H) separate and dorsally invisible, with each valve narrow subtriangular, laterally connected with tergites VIII and X, anteriorly connected with sternite VIII; sternite IX (Fig. 4 C) lying between valves of sternite IX, ovoid and tapering anteriorly, with posterior margin membranous and transparent; tergite X (Figs 3 F – H, 4 A) crescent-shaped, anteriorly tightly fused with tergite VIII, with posterior margin narrowly round and transparent. Male. Aedeagus (Fig. 4 D – G) with median lobe ovoid with tapering apex, moderately translucent with weak sclerotization; apex slightly rounded; with bi-lamellar sclerotized prominence inside. Parameres clavate, broad and flattened in apical half, apical seta present (missing but setal fovea observable). Female. Larger than male in size, larger eye-to-temple ratio. Spermatheca not observed.	en	Ma, Hong-Ye, Li, Yang, Yang, Baolin, Lü, Liang (2025): Eleusis huanglongensis, a new subcortical species of unmargined rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Osoriinae) from Sichuan, China. 03A487960E51260DFF54BAD6B2FBFB91.taxon	discussion	Remarks Eleusis huanglongensis sp. nov. is morphologically similar to the widespread E. humilis (cf. Fig. 4 in Cameron 1928), but can be reliably distinguished by a combination of characters, including a proportionally broader head, longer temples relative to eye length, and configuration of the bi-lamellar prominence inside the aedeagal median lobe (cf. Figs 3 & 28 in Irmler 2017). The new species is readily separable from E. pusilla (2.33 mm long, ex. Fauvel 1895), E. persimilis (4 – 5 mm long, ex. Cameron 1945), and E. xizangensis (4.5 mm long, ex. Zheng 2004) simply by its smaller or larger body size. In males of E. persimilis, the left mandible is a strongly angulate (Cameron 1945), whereas E. huanglongensis sp. nov. exhibits no marked asymmetry between the mandibles. Compared to E. xizangensis, which has a notably low eye-to-temple ratio (1: 1.8, ex. Zheng 2004), the new species presents ratios of 1: 1.3 in males and 1: 1.1 in females. Eleusis terminata males possess more prominent eyes and temples than those of the new species, and females exhibit an eye-to-temple ratio clearly exceeding 1 (cf. Figs 20 & 21 in Cameron 1930), contrasting with the ratio observed in E. huanglongensis sp. nov. Additionally, E. terminata displays a less brownish coloration relative to the new species (cf. Key in Naomi 1996).	en	Ma, Hong-Ye, Li, Yang, Yang, Baolin, Lü, Liang (2025): Eleusis huanglongensis, a new subcortical species of unmargined rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Osoriinae) from Sichuan, China.
