03A487839E1AFFE71E8912CD13826E2A.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The measurements are close to the original description, except for macroseta SgeIII, which is approximately 29 % longer. The length of seta s 4 differs from the specimens measured by Ferragut et al. (2011) from the Dominican Republic, being about 23 % shorter. The macroseta SgeIV is 20 % longer than the measurements reported for specimens from Peru (Guanilo et al. 2008 a). The measurements also closely match those reported by Moraes et al. (2000) for specimens from the French Antilles, and by Abo-Shnaf et al. (2016) for those from Dominican Republic. In Brazil, this species is reported for the first time in the Caatinga biome. (2008 b) for specimens from Argentina. The length of JV 5 is approximately 57 % shorter than that reported by Kreiter et al. (2018) for specimens from Martinique. Additionaly, in this study, the authors suggest that T. peregrinus and T. aripo may be synonyms, as some examined specimens closely matched the holotype measurements of T. peregrinus, while others aligned more closely with those of T. aripo. However, the two species remain classified as distinct. Previous records. 03A487839E0FFFF81E89112816FC6E9B.taxon	description	Description Female (n = 18) Dorsal idiosoma (Figures 3 A, 4). Idiosoma setal pattern 12 A: 6 B / JV- 4: ZV. Dorsal shield reticulated; 309 (299 – 324) long from anterior to posterior margins along midline, 172 (163 – 190) wide at level of s 4; with 16 pairs of setae on dorsal shield; setae r 3 and R 1 inserted on the unsclerotised cuticle; with one pair of visible lyrifissures / poroids (id 3; associated with the peritremal shield) and six pairs of gland pores / solenostomes (gd 2, gd 4, gd 5, gd 6, gd 8 and gd 9); setae lengths: j 1 11 (9 – 13), j 3 10 (8 – 12), j 4 7 (6 – 9), j 5 7 (5 – 9), j 6 8 (7 – 10), J 2 9 (8 – 11), J 5 6 (4 – 8), z 2 9 (7 – 11), z 3 10 (8 – 12), z 4 8 (7 – 11), z 5 8 (6 – 9), Z 4 13 (10 – 16), Z 5 67 (62 – 71), s 4 11 (9 – 13), s 6 11 (8 – 14), S 5 9 (7 – 11), r 3 13 (11 – 15), R 1 10 (9 – 12). All dorsal setae smooth, except Z 5 serrate with a dilated, shovel-shaped tip and a hyaline apex. Setae Z 4, s 4, S 5, r 3, R 1 and JV 5 knobbed. Ventral idiosoma (Figure 3 B, 5 A – C). Sternal shield smooth, with three pairs of setae and two pairs of lyrifissures (poroids); distances between st 1 – st 3 56 (53 – 58), st 2 – st 2 53 (50 – 59); st 4 on metasternal plates. Genital shield smooth, with distance between st 5 – st 5 53 (50 – 60). Ventrianal shield smooth with reticulations in the posterior region near the anal opening; 111 (105 – 130) long, 85 (79 – 90) wide at level of ZV 2 and 86 (79 – 90) at level of anus; with four pairs of pre-anal setae (JV 1, JV 2, JV 3 and ZV 2) and a pair of circular gland pores (gv 3) posteromesad to JV 2. Three pairs of opisthogastric setae on unsclerotised cuticle (JV 5, ZV 1, ZV 3). Seta JV 5 13 (12 – 15) smooth and knobbed. All ventral setae smooth. With two pairs of metapodal plates. Peritreme. Extending anterior to j 1. Spermatheca (Figures 3 C, 6). Calyx funnel-shaped, 13 (9 – 17) long; atrium indistinct. Chelicera (Figure 3 D). Fixed digit 18 (16 – 20) long, with four teeth and pilus dentilis; movable digit 17 (15 – 18) long, with one tooth. Legs (Figure 3 E). Several setae on the legs are slightly thicker, with knobbed tips, and inserted on small tubercles; however, we do not believe any of these setae can be considered macrosetae. In addition, a distinctive ornamentation composed of small cavities or circular depressions can be observed on all legs. Chaetotactic formula of genu II: 2 - 2 / 0 - 2 / 0 - 1 and genu III: 1 - 2 / 1 - 2 / 0 - 1. Differential Diagnosis: The new species is morphologically similar to Metaseiulus (Metaseiulus) adjacentis because both species share predominantly smooth dorsal setae. However, it differs in the lengths and morphology of specific setae, as well as in reproductive structures. A key distinguishing feature is seta Z 4, which in the new species is smooth and short, contrasting with the serrated and long Z 4 found in M. (M.) adjacentis, where it is 2.2 times longer than in the new species. Furthermore, most dorsal setae are 1.15 to 1.77 times longer in M. (M.) adjacentis than in the new species. The sole exception is seta Z 5, which is 1.42 times shorter in M. (M.) adjacentis. The new species further differs from other members of the cornus species group by the presence of several knobbed setae (Z 4, Z 5, s 4, S 5, r 3, R 1 and JV 5). This contrasts with the typical condition in the group, where these setae have tapered ends. Finally, the species differ in their reproductive anatomy: M. (M.) adjacentis possesses a saccularshaped spermatheca, while in the new species, the spermathecal structure is funnel-shaped. Etymology: The combination of the name fungicolus (from the Latin fungi and colus, inhabitant of) refers to the numerous fungal structures observed in all collected specimens, suggesting a close association between the mite and the fungi.	en	Silva, Lídia Rafaele Almeida Da, Junior, Manoel Guedes Correa Gondim, Demite, Peterson Rodrigo (2026): Phytoseiidae mites (Parasitiformes: Mesostigmata) associated with native plants from the Caatinga biome, Pernambuco, Brazil. 03A487839E0FFFF81E89112816FC6E9B.taxon	discussion	Observations Metaseiulus (Metaseiulus) fungicolus sp. nov. has St 1 - St 3 inserted within the sternal shield, unlike the other species in the cornus group, in which St 3 is inserted on a small plate. This discrepancy may be related to the slight sclerotisation of the shield margins, which makes it difficult to determine the exact insertion points of the setae and consequently lead to errors in taxonomic identification. A variation in the insertion of the r 3 was also observed: in approximately 55 % of the specimens examined, the setae were located within the shield; in about 36 %, they were inserted in the cuticle; and in around 9 %, one member of the pair was within the shield and the other in the cuticle. All the legs of the new species exhibit ornamentation resembling cavities or circular depressions, as well as knobbed setae inserted in tubercles. In all specimens collected, a large amount of fungal material was observed, including numerous hyphae which hindered the visualization of certain structures such as pores and lyrifissures. This required the use of an alternative specimen-washing method to disperse the fungal elements and improve structural visibility. This association may be related to the species feeding habits.	en	Silva, Lídia Rafaele Almeida Da, Junior, Manoel Guedes Correa Gondim, Demite, Peterson Rodrigo (2026): Phytoseiidae mites (Parasitiformes: Mesostigmata) associated with native plants from the Caatinga biome, Pernambuco, Brazil.
