Penthimia orientalis Walker, 1851

Diagnosis. Body robust, ovate, dorsum sloped anterad from back of pronotum in lateral view. Crown small, obviously narrower than pronotum, vertex in dorsal view not or only slightly produced, anterior margin rounded, ocelli on disc more remote from each other than from eyes; face short and broad, flat or concave in profile. Pronotum long, anterior margin moderately convex, posterior margin slightly concave, lateral margins long and strongly divergent posteriorly, obliquely directed inwards at posterior angles towards base of scutellum. Scutellum distinctly longer than pronotum, sometimes reaching apex of clavus, apical half acuminate. Tegmina at rest overlapping posterad of clavus which is apically truncate.

Remarks. Among Penthimiini genera, this genus is similar to Penthimia Germar, 1821, but can be distinguished by the longer scutellum (Fig. 1A).

Distribution.
