This species is found from mainland Europe east to the Pacific coast of Asia, and from Iceland south to the Iberian Peninsula. In southern Europe, H. pendulus is more localised than in the north (Speight 2024); for example, in Spain, most records of this species come from its northernmost region and there is just a record from central Spain, in the province of Ciudad Real (Ricarte & Marcos-García 2017). The species has never been reported from North Africa and, due to the available evidence, the record from Algeria by Djellab et al. (2013) becomes uncertain. Thus, the presence of this species in Algeria should be reassessed by examination of the specimens reported by Djellab et al. (2013) or by further fieldwork in the region of El Kala.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03874C39CC076D63FF0EF9379776FEBB	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
