Head including eyes slightly narrower than or subequal to pronotum. Crown anterior margin rounded, slightly longer medially than next to eyes, with several thin transverse carinae on anterior margin and oblique longitudinal stripes; transversely depressed subapically between ocelli. Ocelli marginal, more than twice their own diameter from adjacent eyes. Antenna longer than half body length, inserted near upper corner of eyes; antennal pit deep and encroaching onto frontoclypeus. Anteclypeus narrowed medially but expanded apically. Pronotum lateral margin short, surface transversely striate. Scutellum nearly as long as pronotum. Foretibia dorsal setal formula 1+4; hind femur apical setal formula 2+2+1.

Male pygofer with one or two pairs of lateral processes. Valve nearly trapezoidal. Subgenital plates triangular, without macrosetae, distally attenuate. Connective short, n-shaped. Aedeagus large, with narrow and elongate basal apodeme; the shaft tubular and elongate, usually having paired processes or flanges. On the posterior surface, the gonopore is located at the apex.

Distribution. China (Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan, Zhejiang); Malaysia.

Remarks. The genus is morphologically closest to Bhatia Distant and Carvaka Distant, but is separable from both by the combination of the absence of paraphyses; presence of pygofer processes, and, usually, the lack of apical paired processes on the aedeagus.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/0387EA50293EFFB7FF0BFF01FDC2FC7A	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Total length (tegmen included) of the holotype: 7.0 mm (Fig. 1).

Body yellowish-brown with dark brown patches (Figs. 1–3). Crown yellowish-brown; anterior margin broadly rounded and moderately protruding. Ocelli remote from adjacent eyes by distance slightly exceeding their diameter. Antennae located slightly above the midline of the eyes. Pronotum yellowish-brown, with irregular dark brown markings, sparsely covered with fine transverse ridges. Scutellum yellowish-brown, with brown median depression. Forewings semihyaline, yellowish-brown.

Male genitalia.

Pygofer expanded at base, tapering to a slender apex, bearing numerous stout macrosetae; two distinct pairs of processes present: apical process robust and curved basally, and dorsal preapical process shorter and subtriangular (Figs. 4–5). Valve subrectangular. Subgenital plate margins with fine microsetae. Connective stem broadened posteriorly, longer than anterior arms (Fig. 6). Style basally broad, medially constricted and elongate, apex avicephaliform with “beak” slender and spinelike (Fig. 7). Aedeagus with shaft relatively stout, short, only slightly longer than dorsal apodeme; dorsal margin undulate, apex slightly expanded in lateral and posterior view; shaft with a pair of short, triangular ventral processes medially; a minute dorsal process present subapically (Figs. 8–10).

Material examined

Holotype, ♂, China: Guangdong Province, Guangdong Nanling Mountain Power Station, 07.VIII.2006, collected by Zaihua Yang.

Distribution. Fistulatus guangdongensis sp. nov. closely resembles F. quadrispinosus in general morphology, but can be differentiated based on these subsequent traits of the male reproductive organs: aedeagal shaft with single dorsal subapical prominence in dorso-anterior view (paired in F. quadrispinosus); aedeagal shaft with pair of short, stout ventral processes medially in ventral view (slender and elongate in F. quadrispinosus); aedeagal shaft short and stout in lateral view (elongate and slender in F. quadrispinosus); and pygofer with robust, basally directed curved apical projection (projection absent or weakly developed in F. quadrispinosus).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/0387EA50293CFFB5FF0BFF01FBB2FB9E	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Crown yellowish-brown, featuring a rounded and slightly projecting anterior margin. Ocelli located more than twice their diameter from adjacent eyes. Antennae located near the dorsal margin of the eyes. Pronotum dark brown, lighter apically and darker basally, densely covered with fine transverse ridges. Scutellum yellowish-brown, with distinct brown median depression. Forewings semiopaque, light brown.

Male genitalia.

Pygofer with lamellate ventral process arising subbasally, extending beyond posterior margin and irregularly serrate on medial margin; pygofer and process both bearing macrosetae; process attenuated apically in ventral view (Figs. 14–15). Connective stem broadened posteriorly, arms very short (Fig. 16). Subgenital plate subtriangular, constricted and plicate in basal half, apical portion extremely elongated and finger-like, significantly longer than the basal half (Fig. 17). Style broad basally, constricted medially, apex with short posteromesal projection and longer, acute lateral projection (Fig. 18). Aedeagus with shaft columnar in ventral view; shaft bearing two dorsal processes in lateral view: one subapical and the other subbasal (Figs. 19–20).

Material examined

Holotype, ♂, China: Yunnan Province, Fenshuiling Nature Reserve, 19.V.2015, collected by Yunfei Wu and Jiajia Wang.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is taken from the Latin word “ lamellatus ”, denoting the lamellate process on the male pygofer.

Remarks. The new species is readily separable from congeners by the unique lamellate processes of the male pygofer, which are not spine-like. The aedeagal shaft is similar to those of F. luteolus and F. brevimarginalis in ventral view, as it lacks prominent lateral protrusions. However, it differs as follows: shaft consistently cylindrical without noticeable swelling (distinctly swollen in lower-middle portion in both F. luteolus and F. brevimarginalis) and with two small processes (one subapical and one subbasal) in lateral view (only a single subbasal process in F. luteolus and only one subapical process in F. brevimarginalis).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/0387EA50293BFFB2FF0BFF01FC87FB74	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
