The lectotype of Asphaera purana is designated here to be a unique bearer of this name and the standard for its application. The lectotype is missing right antennomeres IV–XI. We confirm the placement of this species in Asphaera based on the following characters: distance between antennal sockets less than the transverse diameter of antennal socket in frontal view, second antennomere about half as long as third antennomere, anterolateral callosity of pronotum long and directed anteriorly, lateral margin of elytron explanate (see Konstantinov et al. 2022). The current species is very similar to the lectotype of Asphaera aemula Illiger, 1807 (Van Roie et al. in prep) and may well be conspecific, however A. purana has a less angulated apical elytral spot and a darker scutellum. Future studies should evaluate these species.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFFEFFFA18C91C403477FC88	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.

Current status. Capraita sparsata (Bechyné, 1957) .

Measurements. Lectotype: ♀ LB = 4.1 mm, WB = 2.3 mm.

Remarks. The lectotype of Chloëphaga sparsata is designated here to be a unique bearer of this name and the standard for its application The lectotype is missing the right antenna and left antennomeres VIII–XI, as well as all right mesotarsomeres. The rest of the legs are badly visible due to the specimen being glued to a board. Although the lectotype bears a label ‘TYPE’, there was no holotype fixed in the original publication. Therefore, according to the ICZN (1999), article 73.1 and 73.2, we considered this specimen to be a syntype, thus a lectotype designation was in order. The genus Capraita Bechyné, 1957 is a replacement name for Chloëphaga Weise, 1899 because of homonymy of the latter with Chloephaga Eyton, 1838 ( Aves Linnaeus, 1758). We keep this species in Capraita for now, although its placement should be evaluated in future revisions due to considerable overlap between the genera Capraita and Walterianella Bechyné, 1955 . It is closely related to Capraita insignita (Boheman, 1859), also treated in the present manuscript.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFFDFFFA18C918EA37F5F822	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Due to the statement in the original description that only one female was used to describe the species, we assume here that the current type studied is a holotype fixed by monotypy. The holotype is missing the left antenna. We confirm the current placement in the genus Omophoita Chevrolat, 1836 based on the following characters: anterolateral corner of pronotum with lateral side straight, projecting directly forward, thickened, intercoxal prosternal process narrow (see Konstantinov et al. 2022). Bechyné (1971:292) lists this species as a synonym of O. angustilineata (Jacoby, 1905) . Although Bechyné (1971) is an unpublished catalog, we do treat it as published since it is publicly accessible (although currently the website where it is hosted is offline) and other authors like Furth (2017) also treated it as such. We confirm this synonymy with O. angustolineata, having studied multiple specimens from Brazil, Peru and Bolivia (Van Roie et al. in prep).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFFAFFFD18C91BAD35ACFC8B	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The first author also recently studied the type of Walterianella paupera (Illiger, 1807) from Pará, Brazil, and it also belongs in this species group. Lastly, Walterianella tapuiae Begha & Prado, 2025 belongs in the same cluster of species described above, but the authors did not provide a diagnostic key to separate it from other species. All of the species mentioned here are either placed in Walterianella or Capraita but are congeneric. Ongoing revisions on Capraita and Walterianella (Van Roie & Konstantinov, in prep.) will need to resolve this issue.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFF4FFF318C91BAD347FFB34	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The lectotype of Oedionychis sternalis is designated here to be a unique bearer of this name and the standard for its application. The lectotype is missing right antennomeres III–XI. While the description states the existence of three syntypes, only two syntypes were present in NHRS. Bechyné moved this species to Alagoasa Bechyné, 1955 in his unpublished catalog (Bechyné 1971:328). We place this species in the genus Callangaltica Bechyné, 1958, earlier containing only one species Callangaltica batesii (Baly, 1859) . One of the defining genus characteristics is a lamelliform (keeled) prosternal process, much like that if Walterianella . That character is not clearly present in the syntypes but possibly is only present in male specimens (a character that is also apparent in other genera of Oedionychini, like the stronger keeled process in Walterianella, and the often longer toothed process in Asphaera). However, in all other aspects, C. batesii and C. sternalis comb. nov. share the same morphological characteristics: eyes relatively big, interocular space about 1.5 times the diameter of the eye, thin anterofrontal ridge, clearly defined antennal calli, long and slender antenna, reaching half of the body, tooth-like anterolateral callosity of the pronotum projected laterally, pronotum with a prebasal transverse impression (subtle in C. sternalis comb. nov.), strongly triangular metafemora, serrated elytral margin in apical half and wide elytropleura (in dorsal view) in the first half of the elytra. The species seems to be close in form and/or coloration to Alagoasa steinheili (Jacoby, 1880) from Colombia, and Alagoasa aurora Duckett & Daza, 2004 from Costa Rica and Panama by having a very broadly rounded but flattened habitus and elongated antennae. Those two species should be examined more closely to assess their placement in Alagoasa .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFF1FFEA18C91DDA34D4FC3E	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.

Current status. Synonym of Walterianella delineata (Weise, 1921) new combination, new synonymy .

Measurements. Lectotype: ♀ LB = 7.0 mm, WB = 3.9 mm. Paralectotypes: ♂ LB = 5.5–6.1 mm, WB = 2.7–3.8 mm; ♀ LB = 5.3 mm, WB = 3.1 mm.

Remarks. The lectotype of Walterianella subordinata is designated here to be a unique bearer of this name and the standard for its application. The lectotype is missing the left hind leg and part of the metasternum. Although one of the syntypes bears a label ‘HOLOTYPE’, there was no holotype fixed in the original publication. Therefore, according to the ICZN (1999), article 73.1 and 73.2, we considered this specimen to be a syntype, thus a lectotype designation was in order. The specimen with label ‘HOLOTYPE’ is heavily deformed (Fig. 15) and therefore we chose to designate the syntype with label ‘ALLOTYPE’ as lectotype (Fig. 16). The species belongs in Walterianella, based on the following characters: eyes big, interocular space about as wide as diameter of eye, pronotal borders widely explanate, flattened, prosternal process keeled (see Konstantinov et al. 2022). This species is in actuality a pale variation of Walterianella delineata (Weise, 1921) new combination, previously treated in the present study. Apart from the absence of any black coloration on elytra, there are no meaningful morphological differences. The type localities of both species differ, but both are from the Amazon forest, approximately 1.000 km apart.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038687F1FFE8FFE218C91FBC337FFDEE	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
