India, Delhi (28.7041° N, 77.1025° E), collected on the leaves of Crinum asiaticum: one male, six females, one larva II, 29.ix.2009 (J.S Bhatti) (Registration No: 14468/H17 to 14475/H17); five females, two males, one larva II, 30.ix.2009 (Registration No: 14476/H17 to 14483/H17); one male, 9.ix.2008, (Registration No: 14484/H17) (J.S Bhatti) . India, Jammu & Kashmir (33.0815° N, 75.5615° E), one female on Phaseolus vulgaris, 25.viii.2021, (Shash Pal) (Registration No: 12693 /H17) .

Distribution. Malaysia (Stannard and Mitri 1962), India (New record), China (Elie et al., 2021), Timor Leste (Watson & Mound 2020), Australia (Mound 2009; Mound & Tree 2020).

Remarks: Astrothrips aureolus is closely related to A. lantana Bhatti but can be distinguished by basal part of antennal segment III longer than the apical swollen part of segment IV (shorter in A. lantana). A. aureolus is also closely related to A. stannardi Bhatti but can be distinguished by the mesoscutum median intact part longer than the combined length of the anterior and posterior notched parts, whereas the median part is shorter in A. stannardi .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F287D7FFB6FFE7FF6FFD34513665F6	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
