03F64333FFCD0E4A5EBB7B53FE6FFA12.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis: — Cerradicola miottoae is recognized by its lanceolate leaflets measuring 3.0 – 6.4 × 1.3 – 2.9 cm, short pseudoracemes up to 6 cm long, pedicels 2.5 cm long, and a glabrous standard petal. The new species resembles C. eriosematoides and C. lamprophylla in having trifoliolate leaves with dense indumentum. However, C. eriosemoides is distinguished by larger leaflets (8 – 16 × 2.5 – 6 cm), elliptic to ovate, pseudoracemes 12 – 30 cm long, pedicels up to 1 mm long, and a standard petal that is pubescent towards the apex. Cerradicola lamprophylla differs by its obovate to elliptic leaflets (6.5 – 13 × 3 – 8 cm), pseudoracemes 10 – 20 cm long, and a standard petal sericeous in the outer surface.	en	Iganci, João R. 03F64333FFCD0E4A5EBB7B53FE6FFA12.taxon	distribution	Distribution and habitat: — Cerradicola miottoae is only known from the eastern Rio Grande do Sul state (Fig. 3), occurring on fragmented rocky outcrops within the Pampa at approximately 114 m above sea level. Similar to all other species in the genus, C. miottoae grows in dry, open environments, specifically in the rocky outcrops of the Pampa (IBGE 2004). The new species was found on the slope of a granite hill between huge blocks of rock, where there is dense shrubby vegetation with some arboreal elements such as Agarista eucalyptoides (Cham. & Schltdl.) G. Don (“ criúva ”) and Butia odorata (Barb. Rodr.) Noblick & Lorenzi (“ butiá ”). The site also presents many species of Asteraceae, including Baccharis psiadioides (Less.) Joch. Müll., Baccharis sessiliflora Vahl, Radlkoferotoma cistifolium (Less.) Kuntze, and Fabaceae as Centrosema virginianum (L.) Benth., Collaea stenophylla (Hook. & Arn.) Benth., Mimosa bifurca Benth., Rhynchosia corylifolia Mart. ex Benth., and R. lineata Benth., Euphorbiaceae (Croton cuchillae-nigrae Croizat), Verbenaceae (Aloysia gratissima (Gillies & Hook.) Tronc.) Lamiaceae (Glechon marifolia Benth. and Salvia ovalifolia Benth.), Plantaginaceae (Scoparia ericacea Cham. & Schltdl.), Malvaceae (Abutilon malachroides A. St. - Hil. & Naudin and Wissadula glechomifolia (A. St. - Hil.) R. E. Fr.), and Convolvulaceae (Ipomoea uruguayensis Meisn. and Jacquemontia heterotricha O’Donell).	en	Iganci, João R. 03F64333FFCD0E4A5EBB7B53FE6FFA12.taxon	conservation	Preliminary conservation status: — Cerradicola miottoae is currently known from a single location in Rio Grande do Sul state. According to IUCN (2023) criteria, conservation status assessment based on EOO requires sufficient records to form a polygon (i. e., three or more locations). As such, due to limited data, C. miottoae would typically be classified as Deficient Data (DD) by EOO standards. However, the new species is known from only one site encompassing the entire observed population (4 km ²), in a region facing significant anthropogenic pressure leading to severe habitat fragmentation and ongoing decline in both occurrence area and habitat quality. Given these threats and based on the geographic criteria, we propose classifying C. miottoae as Critically Endangered (CR) following criterion B 2 ab (i, ii, iii) [B 2 — Geographic distribution with an occupation area less than 10 km 2; a. Severe habitat fragmentation and known presence of threatened situation; b. Observed continuous decline: (i) extent of occurrence; (ii) area of occupancy; (iii) habitat quality].	en	Iganci, João R. 03F64333FFCD0E4A5EBB7B53FE6FFA12.taxon	discussion	Notes: — The new species is endemic to the Pampa along the slopes of granite rock outcrops in eastern Rio Grande do Sul. The genus Cerradicola predominantly comprises species from dry vegetation especially the Cerrado in Central Brazil (Oliveira & Queiroz 2024). The new species was first recorded shortly after a fire event, suggesting a pyrophytic adaptation and an ecological affinity with the fire-prone vegetation of the Cerrado. The Pampa encompass a wide range of ecosystems, from swampy areas to strongly dry environments, hosting plant lineages associated with both the tropical dry vegetation and the subtropical and temperate formations of Southern South America (Iganci et al. 2011). Until now, Cerradicola boavista was the only species of Cerradicola recorded in Rio Grande do Sul state (Ceolin & Miotto 2013), characterized as a prostrate and unifoliolate herb. The new species appears to show a closer affinity with the Cerrado species C. eriosematoides and C. lamprophylla, which are trifoliolate shrubs and subshrubs covered by dense trichomes. However, C. miottoae differs from these species in leaflet size and shape, pseudoracemes length, pedicels length, and glabrous petal (Table 1). The new species also resembles C. grewiifolia by presenting densely congested inflorescence, smaller than the subtended leaf. Nevertheless, C. grewiifolia is always unifoliolated, while C. miottoae bears trifoliolate leaves.	en	Iganci, João R. V., Bordignon, Sérgio A. L., Ceolin, Guilherme B., Queiroz, Luciano P.
