03F687A4FFD1FFA127C1F915FD7CFC7C.taxon	etymology	Etymology: — The specific epithet refers to the almost leafless stem. Conservation status: — The habitat, according to Google Earth Pro images (https // Google-Eart- Pro. de. softtonic. com) is today destroyed and part of the settlements of Lubumbashi with numerous buildings. The major threat is thus habitat destruction. As the species was known only from one locality and two collections from 1957, it is assessed here as Critically Endangered (CR) and possibly extinct.	en	Fischer, Eberhard (2025): Taxonomic novelties in Buchnera (Orobanchaceae) in Central and East Africa (Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania). 03F687A4FFDDFFA127C1F934FCE1F825.taxon	description	The name Buchnera butayei appears first in a floristic paper by De Wildeman (1921: 64) where he cites: « Buchnera Butayei De Wild., Dolo, 1913 (Bavicchi, n. 157, 444). » There is no accompanying description, and thus the name is invalid. It was not mentioned previously in IPNI (2024) nor in POWO (2024). However, Mielcarek (1996) in his revision of the Scrophulariaceae of Central Africa cited De Wildeman (1921) as the protologue, gave a full description in French and cited a type specimen (R. Butaye 1461), but did not validate the name as a latin diagnosis or description is lacking. As the taxon is well characterized, we here validate the name Buchnera butayei, using the specimen that was chosen as the type by De Wildeman and collected by R. Butaye.	en	Fischer, Eberhard (2025): Taxonomic novelties in Buchnera (Orobanchaceae) in Central and East Africa (Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania). 03F687A4FFDCFFA427C1FA5CFD6AF7F7.taxon	description	Buchnera keilii Milbraed & Pilger (1911: 288) was described and illustrated in the 2 nd volume of « Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse der Deutschen Zentralafrika-Expedtion 1907 - 1908 ». In the protologue the following localities are cited: « Seengebiet: Usumbura (= Bujumbura), Lugobe-Fluss, an steinigem Abhang bei 2000 m ü. M. (Keil n. 81 — blühend im Mai 1905). — Rukarara: Kivumbge-Berg, Bergsteppe bei 1800 m (Aug. 1907 — n. 708) ». The first locality is situated in Burundi while the second locality lies in Rwanda. Mielcarek (1996: 138) cited « Type en provenance d’Ouganda ». The above cited specimens have all been destroyed during the bombing of the Berlin Herbarium, However, there is a nice illustration in the protologue (Mildbraed & Pilger 1911: Taf. XXXI) with details, which also belongs to the original material (Art. 9.4 of the Code) from which a lectotype is chosen here. Hence, the illustration is the only surviving original material and thus has to be chosen (Fig. 9). Buchnera keilii occurs in the East and South-East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and in Western Rwanda and Burundi. Its occurrence in the area of the Flora of Tropical East Africa has been overlooked and the species is not mentioned (Ghazanfar et al. 2008). However, there are specimens from Western Tanzania that had originally been misidentified as Buchnera capitata Benth. (= Buchnera decandollei Govaerts).	en	Fischer, Eberhard (2025): Taxonomic novelties in Buchnera (Orobanchaceae) in Central and East Africa (Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania).
