03E94838877DC03DFF2203BD50B54000.taxon	etymology	Etymology: — The specific epithet ‘ sericophylla ’ is derived from two Greek words, ‘ serikos ’ means silky hairy and ‘ phylla ’ means leaves; denoting one of the prominent characters of the species viz. sericeous leaves.	en	Bhattacharyya, Subhasmit, Patil, Sameer, Singh, S. K. (2025): Caragana sericophylla, a replacement name for Caragana spinosissima (Fabaceae). Phytotaxa 718 (4): 298-300, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.718.4.5, URL: https://doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.718.4.5
03E94838877DC03DFF2203BD50B54000.taxon	discussion	Note: — A similar name, Caragana sericea Pampanini (1907: 593) exists within the genus and is now synonymized with Caragana stipitata Komarov (1909: 343). While both epithets share a Greek origin and refer to silky-haired plants, C. sericophylla differs in having coriaceous (hard) stipules / spines, compared to the membranaceous (soft) stipules / spines of C. sericea. Additionally, the two species are geographically isolated, precluding any taxonomic confusion.	en	Bhattacharyya, Subhasmit, Patil, Sameer, Singh, S. K.
