Lippia ganevii is currently known exclusively from the type locality in the municipality of Morro do Chapéu, in the rocky-field vegetation of the Chapada Diamantina, the high lying plateau in the central part of Bahia, Brazil. It may be distinguished from other Lippia species by its oval-triangular to reniform leaves with a cordate to truncate base and lanceolate bracts covered by glandular trichomes. Additional specimens examined: –– BRAZIL, Bahia, Morro do Chapéu, ca. 16 km along the Morro do Chapéu to Utinga road, SW of Morro do Chapéu, Open scrubby “ campos gerais ” vegetation, 980 m., 41 ° 17 ’ W 11 ° 38 ’ S, 1 june 1980, Harley et al. 22954 (K!).	en	Salimena, Fátima Regina G., Múlgura, Maria Ema, Pastore, Jose Floriano Barêa (2017): Lippia ganevii (Verbenaceae), a new combination for Lantana hatschbachii Moldenke, now validly published.
