Apical forks strong with upper apical fork branches slightly pointed inward and lower apical fork branches thicker than major mandibular teeth. Antennae (Fig. 3 G) geniculate and stout; antennomere 7 slender and sharply pointed apically; antennomeres 8 – 10 lamellate and elongate. Pronotum transverse, covered with short yellow pubescence, narrower than head, about 1.4 times as wide as long, widest at the middle. Anterior margin bisinuate, anterior angles developed with rounded apices; posterior margin slightly bisinuate, posterior angles obtuse. Lateral angles triangular, strongly extending ventrally. Prosternal apophysis projecting ventrally. Scutellum subsemicircular, covered with yellow pubescence. Legs. Femora brownish with a yellow spot. Protibia black with reddish stripes, each bearing approximately three robust spines from apex to middle. Mesotibia with four slender lateral spines increasing in size from base to apex outer margin. Metatibia with three weakly developed distal spines distally. Elytra brownish, covered with short yellow pubescence and shallow punctation which is denser near the scutellum, widest at middle and rounded at apex; shoulders rounded. Abdominal tergite VIII (Fig. 5 J) with weakly developed lateral angles, a colorless and a subtriangular hyaline gap present at the middle of posterior margin. Posterior margin of sternite VIII (Fig. 5 G) slightly protruding. Ventral plate of the abdominal segment IX (Fig. 5 A, D) elongated, distally extended and constricted towards the base. Aedeagus (Fig. 4 A, D, G) 2.5 times as long as wide. Basal piece basally constricted. Paramere rounded and incurved. Penis shorter and thinner than paramere. Flagellum (Fig. 4 A, J) long, distally expanded into a pouch-like orifice. Male paratypes (Fig. 1 B – C), body length 38 – 42 mm. Variation (n = 2). Mandibles of minor male slender, with apical fork weakly developed to absent, major tooth short, triangular and directed anteriorly. Few small inner mandibular teeth located above and below major mandibular tooth, or entirely absent. Female. Unknown.	en	Li, Yi-Teng, Huang, Yu-Zhou, Wang, Yi-Fan, Zhan, Zhi-Hong (2026): A new species of the genus Lucanus Scopoli, 1763 (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae) from southwestern China. 03E5503E8A1EB116D1D66783FCF9FBC0.taxon	diagnosis	Differential diagnosis. This new species shares several characters with L. dirki and L. prossi, including: (1) protibia bearing approximately four small, weakly developed spines; (2) mesotibia bearing two or three spines along midlength; (3) minor males occasionally bearing reduced, poorly developed small inner mandibular teeth; (4) paramere with long apical angle. Lucanus langya sp. nov. can be distinguished from both previously described taxa by the following characters: (1) mandible shorter, with stouter apical fork, shorter major tooth and fewer small inner teeth; (Fig. 3 A – C); (2) anterior angle of head more robust (Fig. 3 D – F); (3) antennomeres 8 – 10 more elongate (Fig. 3 G – I); (4) clypeolabrum with apex more obtuse (Fig. 3 D – F); (5) abdominal tergite VIII with a wider subtriangular hyaline gap present at middle of posterior margin (Fig. 5 J – L); (6) ventral plate of the abdominal segment IX elongated (Fig. 5 D – F), distally extended and continuously constricted to the end instead of weakly dilated medially or apically; (7) dorsal plate of the abdominal segment IX with a bigger notch (Fig. 5 A – C); (8) aedeagus more slender, with median lobe smaller and parameres sharper at apex (Fig. 4 A – C); (9) in lateral view, basal piece with dorsal curvature of ca. 30 ° at apical fourth, with lateral margins constricted at middle (Fig. 4 D – F); (10) caudal ventral plate of the basal piece with a shallower split at center (Fig. 4 A – C); (11) apex of the permanently everted internal sac more expanded (Fig. 4 J – L).	en	Li, Yi-Teng, Huang, Yu-Zhou, Wang, Yi-Fan, Zhan, Zhi-Hong (2026): A new species of the genus Lucanus Scopoli, 1763 (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae) from southwestern China. 03E5503E8A1EB116D1D66783FCF9FBC0.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Chinese Lucanus species have been classified into several species groups based on male and female morphological characters (Zhan & Young 2023). According to the male morphological characters (Figs. 1; 3 A – C; 4 A, D, G), mainly by: (1) shape of each major inner mandibular tooth is triangular, slender; (2) several small inner mandibular teeth located above and below the major inner mandibular tooth; (3) posterolateral margin of head flat, Lucanus langya sp. nov. appears to belong to the Lucanus kraatzi - species group as defined by Zhan & Young (2023). However, the female of this species remains unknown, and therefore its precise placement within this group should be considered tentative until additional specimens — particularly females — are examined. Species of Lucanus are known for their brief period of adult activity, resulting in a short window for field observation (Zhan & Young 2023). The specimens of this new species were collected by local collectors without detailed information on the exact collection date. Consequently, the adult activity period of L. langya sp. nov. remains uncertain and will require further field surveys to clarify.	en	Li, Yi-Teng, Huang, Yu-Zhou, Wang, Yi-Fan, Zhan, Zhi-Hong (2026): A new species of the genus Lucanus Scopoli, 1763 (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae) from southwestern China.
