03D22220FFB5FFAB86C37A67FBD9F780.taxon	discussion	Taxonomic notes: — Microlicia flava is readily recognized by its yellow petal, a feature not found in other species of Microlicia from SCNP. It resembles M. martiana O. Berg ex Triana (1872: 28) by its glandular-punctate indumentum, elliptic leaf blade, acute and not apiculate sepal, and petal acuminate at the apex (Romero 2000 b). However, M. flava has 4 - winged branch (vs. not 4 - winged in M. martiana), sessile and patent leaf blade (vs. petiolate and ascending), polysporangiate anther (vs. tetrasporangiate), and yellow petal (vs. magenta). Microlicia flava also resembles M. furnensis Romero & Versiane (2014: 119) by the subshrubby habit, 4 - winged branch, and yellow anther (Romero & Versiane 2014). Despite, M. flava has yellow petal (vs. cream with pink apex in M. furnensis) and only glandular-punctate indumentum (vs. glandular-punctate and setose, sometimes glandular).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFB3FFAD86C37893FF4BF998.taxon	discussion	Taxonomic notes: — Microlicia hirticalyx is an erect subshrub or shrub with leaf blade ciliate at the margin, and glandular-punctate and hirsute-villous on both surfaces. In addition, it has magenta and obovate petal, and bicolorous stamens with tetrasporangiate anther. Microlicia hirticalyx resembles M. polystemma Naudin (1845: 179) by the leaf blade ciliate at the margin and obovate petal. However, M. hirticalyx has a denser indumentum (vs. sparser in M. polystemma), magenta petal (vs. pink), and bicolorous stamens with vinaceous and yellow anther (vs. concolorous, yellow).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFAFFFB286C37827FE50FE3C.taxon	distribution	Distribution, habitat, and conservation: — Microlicia nakajimae is endemic to the SCNP, occurring in the eastern portion of the park, in the area covered by the municipality of São Roque de Minas (Fig. 1), in campo rupestre and campo limpo at about 1,300 m. This species has a restricted geographic distribution, with a small extent of occurrence (EOO = 47.4 km ²) and area of occupancy (AOO = 20 km ²), based on two 2 × 2 km grid squares. According to the categories proposed by IUCN (2001, 2022), following the criterion B 1 (EOO, Extent of Occurrence estimated to be less than 100 km ²), this species would be classified as Critically Endangered (CR) category, and following the criterion B 2 (AOO, Area of Occupancy estimated to be less than 500 km ²), would be classified as Endangered (EN). However, our knowledge of M. nakajimae populations shows that the Least Concern (LC) category [B 1 + B 2 ab (iii)] would be the most appropriate, despite the extent of occurrence and area of occupancy being smaller than the minimum required for this category. Their populations occur within a conservation unit, where apparently there are not many threats, although some locations are impacted by occasional fires during the dry season (Medeiros & Fiedler 2014). Furthermore, some populations occur along the road that crosses the park and is used by residents and tourists. However, we have not observed a decline in occupancy and population size of M. nakajimae over the past 30 years (pers. obs.).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFAFFFB286C37827FE50FE3C.taxon	discussion	Taxonomic notes: — Microlicia nakajimae resembles M. inquinans by the sessile, ascending, and not imbricate leaf, blade often crenulate at the margin, and flowers in glomerulus. In addition to the morphological features mentioned in the diagnosis, M. nakajimae also has smaller petal 8.5 – 10.5 × 4.8 – 6 mm (vs. larger, 11 – 18 × 5 – 11.5 mm in M. inquinans), smaller antesepalous stamens with filaments 3 – 4 mm long, anther 1 – 2 × ca. 0.5 mm long, beak 0.3 – 0.5 mm long (vs. larger, filaments 5.5 – 7 mm long; anther 2.5 – 3 × 0.8 – 1 mm; beak ca. 0.8 mm long), and smaller antepetalous stamens with filaments ca. 3.5 mm long, anther ca. 1.5 × 0.5 mm long (vs. filaments 4.5 – 6.5 mm long; anther 2.5 – 3 × ca. 0.7 mm long). In M. nakajimae, the apex of the mature capsule does not exceed the torus, while in M. inquinans, the apex exceeds the torus, keeping it exposed. Microlicia nakajimae also resembles M. capitata by its sessile and ascending leaf, and glomerulus inflorescence. However, it differs in having a sparser indumentum (vs. denser in M. capitata), and flowers also in dichasium, or dichasium reduced to one bracteolate flower (vs. only in glomerulus), cylindrical hypanthium (vs. campanulate), elliptic or narrowly ovate leaf blade (vs. lanceolate) and glabrous petal at the margin (vs. ciliate-glandular).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFAAFFB986C37827FF5BFBB4.taxon	distribution	Distribution, habitat, and conservation: — Microlicia sanfranciscana is endemic to the SCNP, Minas Gerais, Brazil, occurring in the eastern portion of the park, in the area covered by the municipality of São Roque de Minas (see Fig. 1), in campo limpo on sandy and wet soil associated with rock outcroups, between 1,200 and 1,400 m (Fig. 7 A). This species has a restricted geographic distribution, with a small extent of occurrence (EOO = 110.8 km ²) and area of occupancy (AOO = 32 km ²), based on two 2 × 2 km grid squares. According to the categories proposed by IUCN (2001, 2022), following the criterion B 1 (EOO, Extent of Occurrence estimated to be less than 5,000 km ²) and B 2 (AOO, Area of Occupancy estimated to be less than 500 km ²), this species would be classified as Endangered (EN) category. However, we suggest preliminarily classifying it as Least Concern (LC) [B 1 + B 2 ab (iii)], despite the extent of occurrence and area of occupancy being smaller than the minimum required, since the populations occur within a conservation unit, where apparently there are not many threats. The area where these populations occur can be impacted by periodic fires that occasionally occur during the dry season (Medeiros & Fiedler 2014) and by intense tourism from visitors to the sources of the São Francisco River. However, it is crucial to emphasize that these threats are not significant or continuous enough to impact the populations, and it should be noted that we have not observed any decline in occupancy and population size of M. sanfranciscana over the past 30 years (pers. obs.).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFAAFFB986C37827FF5BFBB4.taxon	etymology	Etymology: — The specific epithet is a tribute to São Francisco River, one of the most important in Brazil and known as the “ river of national integration ” for connecting Brazil’s Northeast and Southeast regions (Srdjevic et al. 2022). Its source is in the Serra da Canastra and a large population of M. sanfranciscana is found near it.	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFAAFFB986C37827FF5BFBB4.taxon	discussion	Taxonomic notes: — Due to the expressive polymorphism of this new species, for more than 20 years, the collections from SCNP were mistakenly identified as two distinct species: Microlicia scoparia and M. pseudoscoparia. The specimens identified as M. pseudoscoparia have larger size plants and leaves (e. g., J. N. Nakajima et al. 1403, and R. Romero et al. 1781, 3194, 3782), while those identified as M. scoparia have smaller leaves (e. g., J. N. Nakajima et al. 1005, 1053, and R. Romero et al. 2185, 3781) (see Romero 2000 a). Currently, M. pseudoscoparia is considered a synonym of M. multicaulis Martius ex Naudin (1845: 184) (see Romero 2013), and, like M. scoparia, it occurs in campo rupestre from the Espinhaço Range, in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Microlicia sanfranciscana bears some resemblance to M. scoparia in having sessile leaves and a glandular-punctate indumentum. However, it differs in having the morphological features mentioned in the diagnosis. Microlicia sanfranciscana also resembles M. multicaulis by its often linear-lanceolate leaf blade, acute at the apex, attenuate at the base, and glandular-punctate indumentum. However, it differs in being a subshrub with few branches compared to M. multicaulis. In addition, it has sessile leaves (vs. petiolate in M. multicaulis) and petals not apiculate at the apex (vs. apiculate). Microlicia sanfranciscana also resembles Microlicia martiana by its often a linear-lanceolate leaf blade, acute at the apex, attenuate at the base, and glandular-punctate indumentum. However, it differs in having sessile leaves (vs. petiolate in M. martiana), 1 - nerved (vs. 1 – 3 - nerved), and pink petals, which are cream-colored at the base (vs. entirely magenta). Microlicia sanfranciscana and M. rugosa R. Romero & Versiane (2019: 37) share subshrubby habits, ascending and not imbricating leaves with glandular-punctate indumentum. However, it differs in having a smooth or slightly 10 - striate hypanthium (vs. wrinkled in M. rugosa), linear to linear-lanceolate or elliptic leaf blade (vs. lanceolate or oblanceolate), acute and sometimes apiculate at the apex (vs. obtuse), triangular to triangular-subulate sepal, 3 – 4 × 1 – 2 mm (vs. triangular to oblong-triangular, 1 – 3 × 0.8 – 1 mm), and pink petals, sometimes with a cream-colored base (vs. entirely magenta) (Romero et al. 2019).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species. 03D22220FFA5FFBA86C37EC3FA05FB42.taxon	discussion	Taxonomic notes: — Microlicia viminalis has glabrous branches, leaf blade callose at the margin, 7 – 9 - nerved, and bicolorous stamens. Microlicia viminalis resembles M. armata and M. fastigiata by the glabrous branch and leaf blade callose at the margin. However, in M. viminalis, the apex of the hypanthium does not have a bristle crown, and the stamens are bicolorous (vs. crown of bristles present and stamens with yellow anther in M. armata and M. fastigiata).	en	Ferreira-Alves, Rodolfo, Romero, Rosana (2025): Lavoisiereae (Melastomataceae) from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with two new species.
