Small to medium sized leafhoppers. Pronotum moderately large, slightly produced before eyes, distinctly to steeply declivous on anterior margin with transversely striate, lora very narrow concealed beneath inflated lower margin of frons; face relatively short and broad. Forewing with 3 anteapical cell and 4 apical cells. Male pygofer obliquely truncate without process at ventral margin. Dorsal connective large, S-shaped in lateral view, usually with forked or unforked process from ventral margin and spatulate process from dorsal end; shaft of aedeagus stout, unarmed, and tubular or tapered from base, with majority of species having wide base and short smooth stem tapered apically. Face with pair of small black spots above and mesad of ocelli and pair of larger dark spots shaped closer to antennal ledges (Fig. 2). Legs concolorous with body, without any patterns (Fig. 2).

Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe triangular dorsolaterally with small setae scattered posterodorsally (Fig. 3). Lower appendage of dorsal connective bifurcated with finely serrated margins of branches, upper branch almost twice as long as lower one, with wide base, sinuated and strongly curved upwards distally; lower branch curved upward, apex extended toward ventrally curved part of upper branch (Fig. 4). Sugbenital plate simple, with few large hair-like setae around margin and small hair-like setae scattered in middle upper margin (Fig. 5). Style parallel-margined, with short, subtruncate dorsoapical projection (Fig. 6). Aedeagus with preatrium short, atrium relatively large, shaft short and tapered in lateral view, uniform in width in dorsal view, with longitudinal groove on dorsal surface, gonopore apical (Figs. 7–8). Connective small and slender, with tapered anterior protrusion in middle part, size of protrusion equals to half of remaining length (Figs. 9–10). Tergal apodemes short, rounded, close together near middle length, separated by small triangular (Fig. 11); sternal apodemes short, convergent, set close together to widely separated, apices divergent to strongly convergent (Fig. 12).

Measurements. This species closely resembles O. taibainensis Yang & Zhang, 2015 in general morphology but lacks black prominent markings on the pronotum and scutellum. The forewings are uniformly clear brown with dark brown venation, without any marking. However, both species can be distinguished by the differences of male genitalia. Male genitalia of O. alpinus resemble O. latusoid Yang & Zhang, 2015 but can be distinguished by the acute apices of the subgenital plates, the more robust and broader basal portion of the aedeagus, and the lower branches of dorsal connective sinuate only along the upper margin without encompassing entire margin of the apex of each branch.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03D687C8FF94FFC8FF50FBF98F73FE6C	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Pronotum with numerous small black dots scattered over entire surface; scutellum with pair of black basolateral triangles and median triangular black marking extended from anterior to near posterior margin, two black spots antered of scutellar sulcus (Fig. 15). Face almost entirely black, apex of clypellus and labrum light brown (Fig. 16). Legs concolorous with body, without any patterns (Fig. 14). Membrane of forewings light brown transparent with irregular dark brown patches on apex, anterior margin of anteapical cells, first cross veins and commissure (Fig. 17).

Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe with subrectangular apically with small setae scattered on posteroventral surface (Fig. 18). Dorsal connective elongated and slender, branched into two parts; upper appendage uniform in width through most of length, arched then abruptly curved ventroposterad towards apex, tapering apically; lower appendage bifurcated with upper branch much wider and almost twice as long as lower one, strongly arcuate with posterior part L-shaped and finely serrated ventrally; lower branch very slender and acuminate, reaching lower angle of L formed by upper branch (Fig. 19). Subgenital plate simple, with few large setae around ventroapical margin and small setae scattered in middle of upper margin (Fig. 20). Style slightly expanded distally, apex weakly curved and blunt, with small setae on outer margin (Fig. 21). Aedeagus with preatrium weakly developed, atrium relatively robust, shaft simple, tubular, tapered in lateral and dorsal views, with longitudinal groove on dorsal surface, gonopore apical (Figs. 22–23). Connective small, basal wide with a slender protrusion in the middle (dorsal view), protrusion slightly robust in lateral view (Figs. 24–25). Tergal apodemes short, rounded, lateral lobes bent posteriad, apodemes separated by a parallel-sided notch half size as wide as each lobe (Fig. 26); sternal apodemes short, convergent, separated by more than their lobe length (Fig. 27).

Measurements. This species resembles O. wanglangensis Li, Li & Dai, 2019b morphologically but, differs in having dark markings on the apex, anterior margin of anteapical cell, first cross veins and commissure of the forewing, face fully covered with black marking except the apex of the clypellus, fewer dark markings on the pronotum but additional dark markings on the scutellum. Also, the aedeagus has a more acute apex and wider base. The dorsal connective differs in having the apex of the lower branch larger and distinctly L-shaped.

Etymology. The species name is derived from the Latin term alps, referring to Daegwallyeong, a mountain pass and highland region in Gangwon Province, South Korea, where the holotype was collected.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03D687C8FF96FFCEFF50FE728AAFFB0C	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
