According to the biogeographical scheme of Morrone (2018) this species belongs to the Chillán Cordillera district, Maule province.

Plant associations. Chusquea sp.

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective based on species’ colouration. From Latin albis (white) and nigra (black).

Remarks. This species exhibits traits that are shared with other New World Protrocha so it can be convincingly placed in this genus. However, the particular combination of some features does not allow a close association with any previously described species: Fastigium in nearly straight angle (instead of a more common acute angle between metope and coryphe). Paranotal lobes with four pits in cross (or diamond) distribution. Tegminae of brachypterous specimens with veins ScP+R and M distinct but without conspicuous crossveins. Terga IV-VII with dorsolateral pits usually distributed in up to two irregular vertical rows (instead of a more common single row of pits).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C187C65752FFEBFE03FC52FC91F90C	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The species was collected in a rather humid coastal gully. According to the biogeographical scheme of Morrone (2018) this species belongs to the Santiagan province. The biogeographical district is not clear.

Plant associations. Chusquea sp. It was not Chusquea cumingii Nees (the most common Chusquea species in the Valparaíso Region). But no herbarium sample was obtained for identification.

Etymology. This species is named after entomologist Professor Alexandr F. Emeljanov, specialist in the taxonomic study of Fulgoromorpha ( Hemiptera).

Remarks. This species can be easily separated from Protrocha albinigra sp. nov. by its coloration pattern, the number of pits on paranotal lobes, and the more dorsoventrally compressed body. Though both species are associated with Chusquea, it seems they are not closely related. The absence of median carina of metope of Protrocha emeljanovi sp. nov. is an important difference with the rest of New World Protrocha . Also, the double vertical rows of dorsolateral pits on terga IV-VII (more stable in comparison to P. albinigra sp. nov.) is another feature to highlight.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C187C65757FFE1FDD2FF27FE0FFD6C	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
