03C520461F61FF90EF84FEA05BDCFEA1.taxon	discussion	Comments. The discovery of I. luceres in Ribeirão Preto, state of São Paulo, Brazil, reported here for the first time, significantly extends its known distribution approximately 5,800 km southeast its previous known distribution, which was restricted to Costa Rica, the type locality, and Honduras, in Central America (Noyes 2010). Previously, I. iceryae was considered the sole representative of the genus in Brazil (De Santis 1979; Costa and Dal Molin 2025). Isodromus luceres was previously documented as a parasitoid of Chrysopa sp. cocoons in Central America (Noyes 2010), and this study confirms its presence within the Brazilian fauna as a parasitoid of an unidentified species of Chrysopidae. This finding is particularly significant given the recorded occurrence of species of Chrysopa, its potential hosts, in the region. In Brazil, there are records of five Chrysopa species: C. allata (Freitas & Penny, 2001) and C. luederwaldti Navás, 1923, both found in state of São Paulo, C. acuta Hagen, 1852 in an undetermined locality, C. atala Brauer, 1865 in state of Rio de Janeiro, and C. hansensis Navás, 1929 in state of Santa Catarina (Martins and Machado 2025), suggesting a plausible hostparasitoid relationship within the country. Consequently, future surveys are imperative and should prioritize sampling across diverse Brazilian biomes to fully elucidate the geographical distribution and precisely determine the host associations of I. luceres. The presence of green lacewings (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) in sugarcane crops is of great value, as these predators act as natural biological control agents by feeding on softbodied insects that may, depending on their population densities, become pests. Isodromus luceres develops at the expense of their hosts, immature stages of lacewings. The action of this parasitoid can reduce lacewing populations, which directly decreases natural biological control provided by predation of chrysopid. Given this scenario, further studies on the biology and ecology of I. luceres are necessary. Understanding aspects such as its parasitism rate, host specificity, seasonality, and interactions with other natural enemies is crucial to accurately assess the impact of its populations on lacewings, with the aim of developing management strategies that preserve and enhance the benefits of natural biological control.	en	Perioto, Nelson Wanderley, Rosa Lara, Rogéria Inês, Machado da Silva, Tamara, Cividanes, Francisco Jorge, dos Santos Cividanes, Terezinha Monteiro (2025): First record of Isodromus luceres Noyes, 2010 (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) in Brazil: expanding the distribution of a neuropteran parasitoid.
