Head yellow brown, slightly wider than pronotum, with dark brown between ocelli and pale M line. Antenna brown with scape and pedicel slightly darker. Pronotum bicoloured, medially brown but laterally dark brown, with obscure rugosities, anterior corners right angled. Wing membrane of forewing brown but hindwing much paler, veins dark; with no wing stigma. Leg uniformly brown. Cercus brown.

Male. Figures 4 and 6 Body length 21.7 mm; fore wing length 17.1 mm, hind wing length 15.2 mm. Tergum 9 (Figure 4c) with two isolated patches of sensilla basiconica. Tergum 10 (Figure 4c) with two larger patches of sensilla basiconica. Paraprocts Figures 4 (c) and 5(b–c) sclerotised, apically hooked and upcurved, apex sharp. Posterior margin of sternum 9 (Figure 5a–b, 5d) produced, medially with a subquadrate brown hammer which bears darker distal margin.

Aedeagus (Figure 6) simple, membranous and conical, ventrally with a triangular spinulose patch near apex, the patch is curved in lateral view and consists of closely set sharp spines. Apex obtuse and covered by granules.

Female. Unknown.

Etymology

The new species is named after the collector of the holotype, Prof. Dong Hui (Shenzhen City).

Remarks. The new species has no similar species in China, and is also easily separated from the Vietnamese species. Three species, namely A. axana Chen, 2020, A. nobilitata Klapálek, 1909 and A. apicalis Stark and Sivec, 2008, share dark wing tips (Chen 2020), and three species, namely A. bachma Cao and Bae, 2007, A. songhaitiani Chen, 2020 and A. taygianga Chen, 2020, have in common a pair of aedeagal sclerites, whereas A. magnifica Cao and Bae, 2007 has a curved aedeagus.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C787C5412A6656FE1F694EFED0E797	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Li Wen-Liang (CAU).

Description

Adult habitus. (Figure 7a, b) Three ocelli. General colour brown. Head slightly wider than pronotum; anterior ocellus much smaller than posterior ones; ocellate area with a large dark marking extending laterally, posterior margin of the marking with a narrow notch. Antenna dark brown, apical segments brown. Occiput yellow brown but laterally dark brown. Pronotum dark brown, medial portion brownish with distinct rugosities, anterior margin gently convex. Wing membrane subhyaline, veins dark brown. Leg brown, femorotibial joint darker and tarsi dark brown. Cercus uniformly brown.

Male. Figures 7 and 8 Body length 26.8 mm; fore wing length 21.6 mm, hind wing length 19.3 mm. Tergum 9 (Figure 7c) with a few indistinct sensilla basiconica positioned in posteromedial field. Tergum 10 (Figure 7c) anteromedially interrupted, the slit separating two patches of sensilla basiconica, the patch positioned in posterior half of segment and covering half of segment width. Paraproct Figures 7 (c) and 8(c) strong, generally brown but with darker ventrolateral margin. In lateral view, the anterior edge nearly straight but apex gently incurved and ending in small apical tooth, posterior edge with more curved apex; in caudal view, the base moderately sclerotised and incised at inner edge, overally nearly straight (Figure 8c). Sternum 9 (Figure 8a) moderately elongated and with short, its posterior margin thickened and sclerotised, covering anterior part of sternum 10. Hammer (Figure 8a–b) large and elliptical, connecting the posterior margin of sternum 9 with a trapezoid sclerite, occupying one-fourth of segment width and barely one-fifth of segment length; the surface covered by dense, small but distinct granules. Cercus Figures 7 (a) and 8(a–c) each segment bears apical row of strong but short setae.

Aedeagus. (Figure 8d–f) Complex with distinct armatures. Dorsal surface nearly bald but medially with a longitudinal spinulose ridge ending near apex. Ventral surface covered with dense small sharp spines. Basal portion of the everted aedeagus broken but the general outline of the spinous area is apparently column shaped.

Remarks. This male is quite similar to the illustrations and original descriptions of A. magnifica Cao and Bae, 2007 from Vietnam, but the original illustrations are unclear and the aedeagus is not well everted (figs. 18–19 in Cao and Bae 2007), making identification difficult. We provided new illustrations and descriptions to facilitate the identification of this species.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C787C5412B665AFE0E6D06FF33E7D6	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Head slightly wider than pronotum; anterior ocellus much smaller than posterior ones; ocellate area with a large dark marking extending laterally, anterior margins of the marking slightly M-shaped and posterior margin arcuate, between the posterior ocelli and the tentorial callosities with two large light spots (Figure 9b). Antenna missing, palpi brown (Figure 9b). Occiput yellow. Pronotum with distinct rugosities, anterior margin gently convex. Wing membrane subhyaline, veins brown. Leg yellow brown, femorotibial joint dark brown. Cercus uniformly brown (Figure 9a).

Male. (Figure 9). Body length 23.4 mm; fore wing length 19.1 mm, hind wing length 17.6 mm. Tergum 9 (Figure 9b) with sparse sensilla basiconica posteromedially. Tergum 10 (Figure 9b) anteromedially narrowly interrupted, the slit separating two patches of sparse sensilla basiconica, the patch covering nearly the length of the segment and 2/3 of the segment width. Paraproct strongly recurved, forming cylindrical hooks, generally brownish but with darker apex (Figure 9b). Sternum 9 (Figure 9c) with large and elliptical hammer, the surface covered by dense, small granules.

Aedeagus seriously damaged, armatures not observed.

Remarks. Acroneuria personata Harper, 1976 was originally described from Nepal. Subsequently, Zwick (1977) reported it from Bhutan. The single male specimen agrees well with the original description and illustrations of A. personata in regards to the head pattern and the dorsal terminalia. It is the first record from China.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C787C541256659FE1568F3FC45E5E2	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009.
