7. Metharme lanata Philippi ex Engler (1890: 86) View in CoL
Type (lectotype, designated here):— CHILE. [Región de Tarapacá], prope Pica, Chacarillas , March 1885, C. Rahmer ( SGO barcode SGO000002965 [digital image!], available at http://plants.jstor.org/stable/viewer/10.5555/al.ap.specimen.sgo000002965; isolectotype SGO barcode SGO000002964 [digital image!]) .
Notes:— The original material of M. lanata was collected in the Region of Tarapacá in northern Chile. The species was described by R.A. Philippi in 1890, based on a plant collected by C. Rahmer (not by F. Philippi as was mentioned by Teillier 2001) in “Chacarillas, prope Pica [Region of Tarapacá]”. Two specimens in SGO ( SGO 000002964, SGO 000002965) were found. Both collected by C. Rahmer in the area of “Chacarillas” during March 1885. To avoid misinterpretations, the specimen SGO000002965 is designated here as lectotype. This has an original label from the Philippi’s herbarium, and is a very well preserved specimen in bloom, matching the diagnosis and the current concept of the taxon.
